Question about HP Computers & Internet
Most any laptop will experience some heat when placed on non-flat surfaces. how old is the laptop? have you contacted hp about it? there has been a known issue with heat due to bad batteries. they will troubleshoot over the phone with you and ask specifically about the battery to make sure its not in their battery recall. i have run into this a few times and what i have done to repair this is update the bios by visiting HP.com and checking for the most recent version. if the problem persisted i pulled the heatsink/fan and replaced the thermal grease. i have been seeing this issue alot with hp units primarily in the dv series. most of the time replacing the thermal paste has worked. there were a few ocassions where i had to replace the heatsink/fan all together.
