Vent Kenmore HE2 dryer from the Side, not the back

Model #110.8756

Problem: I need to vent my kenmore dryer from the side instead of the back to save ~3 inches of space. The service company wants ~$100.00 to do difficult is it to do it yourself?

Yes, I did. You remove the back panel, punch out the side vent hole (on either side one is available), attach a 90 degree elbow and another piece of 3 inch venting pipe (available at the hardware store). You tape these together with special tape also available at the hardware store. Use the same piece that is currently in the back of the unit to attach the venting pipe that eventually goes to the outside of the house. To do it myself cost about 10 bucks. You will also need to remove an access panel in the front of the unit, below the door, to help see what you're doing and give you enough access to get your hands in there. good luck.

Check behind the dryer to make sure the tube running to the exit vent isn't clogged or blocked. Then go out side where the vent runs to and make sure it isn't clogged.

How do you side vent the Kenmore 800 dryer? I cannot rear vent the dryer due to space limitations. I MUST side vent.

You will need to take the dryer apart, pull the drum out. Then at the bottom you will see the main discharge, take it off and insert a 45 degree elbow, you will need to then install hard venting to reach the knock out on the side. Be sure to use metal duct tape when sealing the venting to avaoid fire haz.

you need to clean out the vent line and the dryer.unplug the dryer, pull out the filter, remove the bottom panel and then remove the duct that the lint filter slides into and clean it out,vac out the inside of the dryer,if you have a shop vac you can blow all the lint from the back and then vac it up,make sure you blow off the motor, alot of lint gets built up around and inside it,pull out the dryer and pull off the vent line,if it's a long run i use a leaf blower to blow out the vent line, first go outside and make sure the vent is clear so when you blow out the vent line nothing is blocking the lint from coming out.this will take care of your problem,do this once a year and your dryer will last longer, you'll need less parts changed out over the years because the dryer won't over heat, you'll save on electricity, your clothes willl dry on time and most of all you won't have any fires

Some Kenmore dryers have a knockout at the back, lower corner that can be "knocked out". If you have one of these it can be vented out through the side. If the knockout is there, a kit is available for the venting. Just go to and under the parts direct tab enter your model number aka 000.00000, and search out the kit.

sounde like you have a clogged vent line be shure the vent hose is not cinked in any waty that would restrict the air flow. Next turn the dryer on and make sure you and a good flow of air out side the house if the air is not blowing out the vent out side you will need to clean this out or have it cleaned.
