If you have an infinity system you more than likely have an amp somewhere, if it isnt located on the passenger side either on side of or beneath the glove box it may be mounted in the rear... behind one of the side rear panels, or beneath the rear seat...

Trying to install a Alpine 3552 amp, can't get power, not sure how remote switch works?

make sure you have a good ground. use a continuity tester. local retail or stereo shop sells one for about $10-$20. make sure you have power (fuse should be within 12" of battery). the remote wire off the stereo (usually blue) can be your remote switch. this has to be connected for the amp to work and stereo must be turned on.

I have a stock stereo and two subs with an amp in the trunk. Also two alpine speakers in the rear. Whenever I turn my balance to the left my subs don't play. What's wrong?

Hello.... I am sorry to hear you are having problems. The reason for this is that since you have a stock stereo, the shop (or person) whom installed the amp and subs used a line out converter. What this part does is allows the connection of RCA cables to the factory head unit. Almost all bass signals are always in stereo, so since you were only hooking an amplifier for just subs, you can actually just connect to just one of the rear speakers instead of connecting to the right and left. Just makes the install a little quicker. There is nothing wrong with this as I usually do the same thing in our shop. However, if you are going to be using the balance control, then you will need to go back to the shop and have them hook the converter up in stereo (to both rear speakers). Hope this helps!

I have 2 6x9 speakers up front 4 6 1/2 3-ways

Hello rjmiller4039,

Although amps with 5 channels are pretty rare, you can get one. Alpine, Boston Acoustics, Infinity, JL audio, MTX, and Polk all have 5-channels ranging in price from around $350 up to around $1,000. The Alpine PDX-5 will output 75X4 watts RMS for the front and rear stereo channels and 300 watts to the mono sub channel. It is priced at $599.99 at Crutchfield.

Hope this helps.

Alpine stereo car deck installed in place of factory Bose with

What you have been told is correct, these proprietary systems are great for the manufacturer, but when they start to have issues (and they will) they leave you 2 options: pay through the nose to stay original or replace the amps with new ones....the upside of this is aftermarket amps are soooo mugh better than stock that it is lauhgable.

Alpine cdm 9823 does not make any sound at all everything but it does not sound at all

This may have one or two things going on here:

First, do you have car ampifiers in the vehicle? If so, this is an indication that the problem might be with and amp....check power and connections at the amp.

Second, it may be a radio setting. In the settings menu on the Alpine, there is an option to turn the internal amplifier on/off. Make sure that it is set to on or you'll have power and no sound.

Third, you may have a speaker short or bad speaker somewhere. To protect it's internal amplifier, the radio will turn off the sound output when it sees a speaker is shorted or grounding somewhere in the system. This can happen when a speaker's voice coil goes bad or when a speaker terminal contact is touching metal somewhere in the car.

If none of these ideas points to the solution, I'd recommend visiting a local car stereo shop to have them further troubleshoot. Hope this information was helpful.
