Question about Samsung SYNC SGH-A707 Cellular Phone
I got the SYNC for christmas of 2006 and still can't set a purchased ringtone for a text message. the phone gives you the choice:
1. Use Effect Tone
2. Use My Effect Tone
the effect tones are the ones preloaded by the manufacturer
my effect tones are supposed to be the ringtones you put on yourself. i have over 10 ringtones and none of them show up as a choice.
what am i doing wrong?
or do i have a defective phone?
You need to send the ones you have put on and send them to a different file on the phone i will have a look for the manuall for your phone when i find it i will talk you through it step by step but you need to move the files from where they are into the file you need them in hope this is some help its not the phone so dont worry about that i will find the manuall then i will post u back ok .......................................

This website will change files to mmf format. but the sound sucks majorlyyyy
the second one will let you cut up the song. i suggest you cut it first and then convert it. it works for me and i can use it for txt and alarm but like i said the sound is horrible.

They need to be set to mmf tones, unfortunately, when you set a realtone to mmf, it changes it to polyphonic...which sucks. i have yet to find a way around this, but i'm working on it.

Text alerts, voicemails alerts, and alarm alerts all use a different file format than regular ringtones for the phone. notice that the preloaded tones are .mmf. thats what it has to be. iv never bothered buying tones cause its always a rip off anywhere. but thats the answer to your "ringtone wont work for alarm" problem
