Hi Josh:
Sounds like it may have been overtightened and has stripped threads. I'd try locking a set of vice grips on it and then try turning it while pulling really hard. Once you get it removed you may need to buy a replacement, Or............ get several really thick rubber washers and only screw it in until it is snug.

Testimonial: "Ted, Thanks for the response. I initially tried using vice grips to pull on the oil cap while turning it. I was trying to salvage the oil cap but once I used full force the oil cap came out eventually. I just purchased a new oil cap and hopefully the replacement will last longer than the initial one did."

    Hi Josh:
Thanks for giving me the good news.
If the new cap starts to feel like it is binding, make sure there are no sawdust chunks or dirt in the threads. I keep an old toothbrush in the tool kit just to help keep the threads clean.
    All the best!

Compression is 95 and will not start. Problem with compression??

Check the plug after attempting to start...is it wet with gas? If not proceed to figuring out why not. Is the gas OLD gas that has been setting? If so, toss it and drain the tank and fill with freshly mixed fuel and try again. Old fuel is the death of easy saw starting. Inspect the impulse line and the fuel line to make sure they are not deteriorated and leaking gas or sucking air causing no fuel to get to the carb.

While the plug is out, ground it to the side of the block and pull the cord. Does it have spark?? If not proceed to figuring out why not.

First check to make sure the switch is in the run position, then work your way back to the coil. If no ground exists, the problem could be a defective coil producing no spark.

AUTOAMTIC OILER NOT WORKING ON MY REMINGTON RODEO PRO

You probably will find the driven gear on the oil pump bad. There are plastic and gets damaged fairly easily when trash get into pump drive area.

What kind of oil solution do I use in my remington chain pole saw

I recommend bar and chain oil (SAE 30 with additives to make it adhere) available at hardware stores and home centers.
From a Remington OM, page 9 (edited).
FILLING OIL TANK
1. Remove oil cap.
2. Fill oil tank with SAE 30 motor oil if the temperature is between 30 & 75°F

  • Colder use SAE 10 oil.
  • Warmer use SAE 40 oil.
3. Replace oil cap at once. Tighten oil cap firmly for a good seal. This will avoid oil seepage from tank.
4. Wipe off excess oil.

  • It is normal for oil to seep when saw is not in use.
  • Empty oil tank after each use to prevent seepage.
If you have more questions or need additional help please reply below and I will get back to you. Thank you for using FixYa and Good Luck. HTH

What type of oil is used in the remington 16" chain saw?

From page 9 of a M12510US (bar oil is SAE 30 with additives to help it adhere to the bar and chain):
FILLING OIL TANK
1. Remove oil cap.
2. Fill oil tank with SAE #30 motor oil. Note: For temperatures below 30°F, use SAE #10 oil. For temperatures above 75°F, use SAE #40 oil. 3. Replace oil cap at once. Tighten oil cap firmly for good seal. This will avoid oil seepage from tank.
4. Wipe off excess oil.
Note: It is normal for oil to seep when saw is not in use. Empty oil tank after each use to prevent seepage.

Oil cap for remington electric chain saw

Remington.com
http://www.desaparts.com/remington-chainsaw.html
You provide no model number. There are at least 3 different oil caps for different saws.

RemingtonPower is no longer in production. Replacement parts are mostly exhausted. Sooner or later the part you seek will be NLA. Sorry

I need a oil primer button for a remington electic chain saw.model #108526-01.can u please help me find this part.thx

This are several part #'s (original and replacement) for the cap and bulb for your saw.
If your oil cap opening is 11/16" #107512-01, #079084-01.
If your oil cap opening is 7/8" the number is # 079084-02.

Although msservice (first link), and Master Parts (second link) says the 11/16" no longer available, you might try Grainger's (third link).

Most likely your not going to find the cap and bulb for the 11/16" opening however you could modify the other one. Try covering the opening with some plastic wrap and then wrapping the threads with Teflon tap. Then apply some Epoxy to the covered threads and placing the cap with the bulb removed over the opening. Once the Epoxy has started to set just unscrew the cap.
You could also heat up the plastic opening and expand it using a handle of a pair of pliers.

I hope something here helps.

Remington X0089-05 pushbutton oiling?

I cannot find an owner's manual with the model number you supplied. I suspect it is actually a serial number.
I did find a manual with this step (Page 5 "OILING SAW CHAIN")
here:
http://dl.owneriq.net/f/f2821a14-608e-71b4-81fc-1a62bb3d6bfd.pdf
If you purchased this new the reference is probably for an earlier model and should not be there. If gifted to you used or purchased it used the cap may have been replaced.

I suggest you contact the manufacturer here:
Remington.com
http://www.remingtonpowertools.com/find_manual.cgi
And ask for clarification of the manual or a source for the correct oil reservoir cap. HTH
Lou
If you contact Remington please provide EVERY number that appears anywhere on this item.
