How is the battery condition? The click you hear is the starter solenoid pulling in. Check all the connections at the battery, engine ground and starter including the solenoid. You have to 'load test' the battery. Just reading the voltage on the terminals isn't good enough, a near dead battery will read 12 volts with 'no load'

Check power at starter motor terminal. Check all the connections and make sure ground wire is tight. If you have power at the starter terminal, make sure the engine ground is solid back to the battery.
Because it get a start signal, but never started.
It must be a bad starter motor then. I want you to try one more thing though, when all else fails, hit it with a hammer! I'm serious, they get hung up; give it a couple good wraps with a hammer.
The ground rod bond is for the generator electrical system. I'm talking about the battery ground. Make sure the engine to battery neg is good.
I'd have to say you have a bad starter motor. If there's power at the starter, and the ground going back is good, it's a bad starter motor.

Checked condition of battery with two different hydrometers. Both showed each cell excellant and fully charged.
I hear the solinoid opening and I can smell the natural gas, but still the generator will not start. This is a new battery, less than two years old.
I will attempt to troubleshoot the power and grounding issues tomorrow morning, but can you tell me what would cause the overcrank waring light to come on?
I have checked and there is power at the starter. All connections seem to be good, secure and not corroded. There is a good ground bond from the generator to the ground rod.
Tried hitting starter. No change
