Question about Hotpoint Ariston NWXR483EGWW Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Timer appears to not be working, no clicking noise as I turn it, and the dryer will no longer turn on no matter the setting

Thanks, but it appears to be only the timer knob that has failed. After disassembling, I detected cracks on the inside of the knob along where it meets the stem. I turned the pin with pliers and it appears to be working. So I will try replacing just the knob if I can find it. The dryer is less than five years old. I can replace the timer mechanism if need be, however I think because of the age of the dryer, I will try to replace just the knob first.

HI, this absent clicking noise from the timer control is a signal of a failed timer mechanism. replace this damaged timer asap, if possible. it has failed.

Kenmore dryer stop working after a lightening storm. checked breakers appears ok, but when you push start switch after setting timer i hear humming noise coming from timer but dryer will not come on.

It is very possible the humming is not comming from the timer, but the motor. check the capacitor on the motor. it should be a 5 or 8 microfarad cap .replace it. Dont try and run motor like that anymore untill it is checked.

Will not turn off

The clock motor in the timer may have debris in it's internal gearing or the timer mating gear to the motor can be damaged or have debris in it's teeth at the point of stoppage. Replacing the timer is the usual and quick fix.

My dyer is not heating all of the time no matter what setting I use. I had 2 rollers replaced because they appeared to be rubbinbg and making a noise. The dryer is still not heating and drying the clothes

try flipping you breaker off and on 2 or 3 times (hard and fast) if this don't work check element, timer , thermostats and safety switch on motor (check wiring diagram for pin numbers of safety switch)....if this switch goes bad the motor will still run but it wont let power go to element
