Question about HP Computers & Internet
Well not knowing what operating system, I need to assume it's xp. Do you have power to the scanner? Assuming yes & you say you have usb 2.0(didn't look up the specs),try this. Go to "my computer" & right click. Go to properties ,hardware, device manager. Look for any yellow "?"'s. If there is one for the usb hub, then you need to re-install the usb drivers with the disk the pc came with or by going to the website & downloading it. Then if all is good there, unplug the scanner from the usb port, & while in the device manager, uninstall the scanner. Next go to the control panel & remove the driver. Put the disk in & follow the instructions to re-install the scanner. Re-boot & see what happens. If that doesn't work make sure you have the latest driver for the device by going to the website & make sure you have the proper one for the operating system you're using. I'm not familiar with that make or model scanner,so I don't know how old or new it is. Being it has the option for 32 or 64 bit,it's probably fairly new. 2.0 is the fastest usb currently made so there's no newer option there. If the scanner company has a tech support number it may be wise to call them with this issue if the above steps fail. Could be simply a bad scanner. Scanners & printers use the same resources,so check in the control panel to see if the pc sees it. If it does, right click on it & hit properties. It should say the device is working properly. If this is the case it's either a driver issue or you may need to enable it. hope this helps.

Yes the ion slides 2 pc requires a USB2 port.
This is the cheapest PCI type card available that provides USB2 ports
See the link above the picture for details. - if you are outside of usa you will want to find another place to buy a card from, for example a local computer store.
You need a PCI - USB2 card, your computer has 2 pci slots available where this can be installed unless you already have added two extra cards to the computer?
HP tells me the computer has 3 PCI slots available, which 1 of them is in use and other two are free. Install the card to either one of them.
You will need to open the cover of the computer (unplug all cables before doing so), unscrew or remove a protective metal plate so you can fit in the card
The red line on this picture is the metal plate on the slot that would need to be removed, then just insert the card into the white pci slot, and the blue circle, insert a screw there to hold it in place.
close the cover, connect all cables to the computer. Turn it on. The card will work probably right away without you doing anything, or you might have to use the cd that might come with the product to install drivers.
Then your USB2 ports in the back of the computer are ready for use, remember you can only use those ports for USB2 all other ports will still be USB1.
Install your scanner etc and it should work properly.
Any questions, let me know.

Does the computer not even detect the scanner when installing?
Is it powered on?
Did you plug it in in the software asked you?
This is your scanner:
On the key features tab at the bottom it says you need
Is this your computer:
If so then it has USB 2 ,make sure you plug the scanner into the back USB ports and not the front.
also try it directly on the USB port and not on a HUB.
