How old is this unit, is it the Lifestyle 3 from the 80's ?

I have a Bose Wave Music System (Model AWRCC1) and the CD player sometimes momentarily pauses while playing. Is there any thing I can do about it myself? Is it worth sending to Bose for repair (about 5...

Well, the lens light needs re-trimming, that's why it's having a hard time reading that audio CD.
The adjustment is in the LENS assembly, there is a trimmer nut under that you will have to adjust and clean. It always works on CD AUDiO player ( not on DVD ).
You could send it to Bose and have it tuned and service clean the whole unit, it is not that expensive or bring it to any electronic tech and he knows what to do.

Hope that helps!

The remote for my Bose Wave radio-CD no longer works. I have changed the battery and put a new battery into another Bose remote--no luck and I want to play my Christmas CDs! Help!

  • Reset the system by disconnecting the power cord from the wall for one minute, then plug it back in

  • Make sure you’re pointing the remote directly at your Wave® music system. If the system is placed above table-top height, be sure to angle the remote upward while pointing

  • Check for possible sources of interference with the remote’s infrared (IR) signal, such as bright lights or solar glare off of a window. Make sure nothing is blocking the path of the signal from the remote to the Wave® music system display. The remote will not work properly if there is something directly in front of the display

  • Wipe off the small clear lens on the front end of the remote

  • The remote is designed to work within 20' of the system. Greater distance may cause intermittent response

First cd works fine but bose won't shift to the other 3 CD's...keeps saying "error" . I have tried unplugging the AC cord and then plugging it in again...worked for awhile but now doesn't work...

Check the pins on the cable that's plugged into "BoseLink" on the Wave Music System. If even 1 pin is bent, this could happen. If that looks fine, try another reset, but keep the power unplugged for at least 30+ seconds. If this fails, call Bose tech support at 800-367-4008. If this is under warranty, they will fix this or replace it for free, otherwise it will be about $75 to fix.

Bose not working at all

Unfortunately, Bose will not release their schematics of parts lists, effectively giving them a monopoly on repair of these sets. On their web site,, they offer to repair most Wave sets for $100 or give $200 credit towards the purchase of a new Wave. Before you spend the big bucks though, you might want to check out the new HD radios. Better sound and MUCH lower prices than the Bose.

We have a bose wave music system model awrcc2 unit that made a poping sound & now it just buzzes. we can hear music but with a loud hum.

Sounds like you've blown a capacitor in the power supply section. Unfortunately, Bose does not release their parts lists or schematics, effectively creating a monopoly for parts and repairs. In fact, their web site says that the Bose factory is the only option for service or repair. They used to list a flat rate repair charge on the web site, but removed it - probably because it scared too many people. Their troubleshooting guide (below) might help, but it's very simplistic.

Before you invest in expensive factory repair on one of these trouble prone sets, you might want to investigate the new HD radios -- better sound at a MUCH lower price.

Yes I think you're right.

You are lucky this is all it is.

Bose do not seem to supply spare parts direct to the consumer, and I'm afraid lightening isn't covered in their warranty. If you want to return the unit to Bose, first you need to call them to obtain a Return Material Authorization (RMA) number. This number helps them track the status of your product. In the United States, call 1-800-367-4008. Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM ET and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM ET. International customers, click here to find the facility closest to you.

Have the following information available when you call:
  • Product model and series number, if applicable
  • Serial number(s): Please note that Lifestyle® systems have separate serial numbers for the music center and Acoustimass® module
  • Date of purchase
  • Details of the problem you are experiencing
  • If your product is no longer covered under warranty and you plan to send it to Bose Corporation for repair, please have your credit card number available.
Alternatively - find another damaged system with a different fault, and swap assemblies.

Hope this helps.

BOSe Wave Radio - Disk "not readable"

I had the same problem with the disk unreadable error and took my unit to a authorized repair dealer about 100 miles from where I live to have it fixed. It ended up costing me about $300 to have the CD unit totally replaced which is almost as much as I paid for the unit in the first place. I am like a lot of you that used the CD very little although the unit was about 3 years old. I think Bose has a problem and would like us to think it is very rare. I bought a Lifestyle surround system about 14 years ago that has a CD and have never had a problem with it so needless to say I am very disappointed in the Wave II Radio/CD system. I am fairly certain the problem will occur again, but only time will tell.

Am antennas

Hi, to all. There are currently two types of Bose Wave Radio system available in the market. The first one being the WRCD with the top loading CD mechanism. This unit does come with the Antennae cable inside the box and this should sort out your problem. Another option is using an outdoor aerial antennae and connect this to the antennae port behind the unit. The second one is the new Wave Music System with the front loading tray mechanism. This system uses a unique concept of using the electrical cable included in the box and utilise your electrical pwoer line as the antennae receptor. I recommedn to keeping the pwoer calbe fully extended. Another solution for this is that Bose service centers do have a specific spare parts calbe called the AM/FM antennae cable for WMS which you can simply buy for around 20$ I assume. this basically bypases the power calbe and routes antennae reception through this minicable (brownish colored RJ calbe).

Glad to be of service...
