I puchased a Titan 740ix from a widow that has no idea where the original receipt is. I need to reset the security code or it is useless. Titan informed me without that it's impossible. Suggestions

You cannot reset the security code. Once it has been set, it is part of the system's operation. You should be able to bring it into a service depot and they can reset it, but you will need your original receipt.
If instead you are just asking how to enter the code without a remote, you can just use the controls on the deck just like you would with the remote. Check page 30 of your manual or download it here:

Go to the Titan website at www.titantool.com, select US for location then click on the 'Product Manuals' tab along the very top of the page. Don't use the one in the header, it only shows discontinued models. They list a 740 Impact and 740ix so select the one you need.
There is no default code, if that was the case then security codes would be useless. Contact your cell phone service provider with help on resetting the phone to factory original settings, you will loose all stored information in most cases.
Unfortunately, you can't reset the PIN. If you know the previous owner's security location, it will automatically unlock at that location and you can then reset the PIN code. Otherwise, you have to send it to Garmin, with an original receipt from an authorized Garmin dealer and they will unlock it for a fee. Other than those two solutions, your unit is now useless. This is a security feature on the Garmin GPS units to prevent units from being used if they are stolen. I would take it back to the person who sold it to you and request a refund.
If you still have the original receipt for the unit, check with an Authorized Kenwood dealer first to see if they can do it. If they can't, the manufacturer can. However, you have to show Proof of Purchase via original receipt. Otherwise ... Don't bother buying it!!!. Hope this helps
Unfortunately, even if you perform master reset on Garmin GPS unit, it does not reset Garmin Lock security feature, which password-protect most Garmin electronic devices to deter theft. If you forget the PIN or password unlock code to unlock the Garmin unit, the best solution is to bring it to Garmin to get unlocked. “Secure Location” does not unlock a locked Garmin unit either as it’s only a temporary fix as when it’s turn on outside the security location, the device is locked again."
So unfortunately, there is only one option: You have to send your nüvi into the Garmin, who can unlock it. Remember original receipt.
if you dont havethe security location which unlocks it when you bring it there your screwed unless you have the receipt you can send it to garmin if not its garbage same as mine
