I have voltage going to the motor 120 volts and i check the white wire on top of the timer , i also have 120 v, i cut the white wire going directly to the motor and it runs fine and heats up ,i open the door and the dryer cuts off, hit the start button and it restarts. I just am not getting the neutral to the motor. Is the timer bad?

  • robert Aug 29, 2015

the timer should cut the hot not the neutral. i would check all the wiring from the plug on.

The red wire going to the motor has 120 volts on it. The light blue wires on the start switch have 120 volts on them, the black and brown wires on the relay (i think it is a relay) has 0 volts always. . The motor has 1.5 ohms on it.

This dryer gas been running for over a year, the breaker and the 220 volts going to the dryer is good.

SOURCE: Maytag electric dryer will not run

Just like the other tech. said, it is most likely your belt or a bad motor. The belt is a pain in the neck to replace because the top, the back and sometimes the front need to come off.

SOURCE: maytag electric dryer. Tumbler won't turn.

The first thing to check is the drive belt. you will need to turn the dryer on its side and look to see if the drive belt is broken. If this is o.k it will be the motor.

Dryer wont start

Check to see if it has a thermal fuse, usually a white plastic piece with two wires from it. Also make sure that only1/2 your breaker has not tripped... (I know you checked it) if 1/2 tripped you will have lights etc but no motor action. Also check the door switch.

Maytag gas dryer model SDG4606AWW timer wont rotate on any cycle, dryer just keeps running until knob is rotated manualy to off, replaced timer and new one is doing the same, took dryer compltley apart,...

I don't have a Maytag schematic handy but there should be one on or in the dryer. Trace the clock wiring back until until you get voltage. I am betting one leg of the time motor goes to the drum motor (Gray wire maybe) and the other leg to the dryness sensor module (brown wire). Check these wires against both Line and Neutral. That should tell of it's the module or the motor block.

FEQ1442ES1 works but no heat

Instructions

1Turn off and unplug the dryer. Since you need to remove the front panels and expose the electrical wiring of the dryer's buzzer you should turn the dryer off and then unplug the machine to avoid shocks. Once the dryer has been unplugged, turn its dial to the "on" setting to make sure the dryer is completely powered down.
2Locate the buzzer. The best way to locate the dryer's buzzer is to check the machine's schematic or manual. The buzzer is usually located behind the front panel of the machine. In some cases the buzzer is located behind the dryer's back panel. Dryer buzzers are generally small black boxes that are wired to the timing device.

The buzzer on the dryer keeps going off when i go to start the dryer and dryer wont start

That is a bad sign. If the buzzing starts when you press the start button and stops when you release its almost safe to say that the motor has a dead short or grounded out and causing that to happen. You can check the start switch by getting a multimeter and with the dryer unplugged take the wires off the switch, place a lead on each pin and press the start with meter set for continuity. If it shows continuity when presed and stops when released your motor is shot and needs to be replaced.

Maytag dryer HYG3460AWW how do I test thermal fuse onblower with 4 wires (yellow tan blue white) how do itest motor without removeing it from unit.

Hello,

That thermostat your describing is the main controlling thermostat and NOT the thermal fuse however to test it the 2 with the larger wire terminals will have ZERO ohms resistiance at all times, the 2 smaller terminals will have appx.100-1000 ohms resistiance. Now then the thermal fuse will have TWO wires and mounted to the tube where the burner asm. is and it too should have ZERO ohms resistiance at all times if its good.

To test the motor the WHITE and purple wire on the motor is the run winding it will have continuty with i believe appx 10 or so ohms resistiance at all times

the start winding on the motor will also have continuty and the wires on it will be the same WHITE wire as the run winding and the orange wire

but if your dryer wont start check the thermal fuse on the burner tube first, the the door switch if thermal fuse checks to be good

Matag performa dryer heats but won't tumble.

After checking the door switch and belt (both ok) I took the wires
from the thermal fuses-- straight wired them together and the dryer started working. I went to my local appliance center,
purchased the thermal fuse kit --replaced the old fuses--now it
runs great.
I hope this helps someone else with this problem.

On the side of the heater box is a small black thermal fuse with 2 white wires going to it. If this is open the dryer will not run.Replace it.
