Problem after replacing convergence board

A few weeks ago my TV could not be turned on. I ordered convergence board AA95-02002A from encompassparts.com to replace the old convergence board bp41- 00045b in my TV. The new board arrived last week and it looks the same as the old one, so I just replaced it. Initially it looked fine. However after 1-2 minutes I could no longer receive pictures and sound from my cable through ''antenna in'' - the screen just turned blue, although I could still receive signals from AV1/2. After turning off the TV and let it stay plugged in for a few hours, when I turned it on again, still no ''antenna in'' signal, and no normal ''power-on'' sound. Also the black bar on the top left of TV screen (which would appear when you change channels) is slighted tilted. Is there any more set up I need to do after replacing the convergence board, or my TV has other problems besides the convergence board problem? Thank you!

Thank you Bat1956. I did manual convergence and was able to get the geometry corrected. However there is still no stable antenna signal - some channels will just flash for 0.1 second and then go back to blue screen. I tried auto programming (setting antenna in to STD) and no luck. Also the auto-focus now will mess up the manual convergence I did. Is there a service menu that I must access? I tried mute182 but it did not work. Thanks.

Yes, you do need to set up the convergence in order to get the picture geometry correct. the antenna and maybe some other settings will need to be restored through the appropriate user interface screens. You will need your owners manual for a guide.

The vendor that sold the board may also sell the service manual which would give details on the service sub-menus. If you see a small button switch on the board, pressing that will get you a crosshatch convergence setting pattern. and it enables the sub-menus. be careful not to make a boat-anchor.

RCA Projection TV Alignment

you would have to swap out the convergence board itself and you would need to order the part either from a delaer or through a tv repair shop.all you have to give them is the make and model of the tv and they will tell you what you need from there as far as which board etc

Panasonic PT-47WX53G Projection TV - convergence problem, can not align completely

I don't know why that guy told you to replace your "DC" board (that is the one you mean, right?) More likely than not, it's your convergence amp integrated circuits (ICs). I had what I think was the same problem (on the same exact model TV) you described, and I looked around alot of blogs and DIY websites, and this seems to be the most prevalent root behind these convergence problems. I ordered the two chips for twelve bucks (for both), spent a few extra bucks (like $35) on some electronic tools / solder supplies, and followed procedures laid out here at http://cmpalmer.blogspot.com/2006/11/fixing-my-own-tv-part-i.html, as well as paying strict attention to the service repair manual (which you said you already have?). The result? No more convergence problem, and I saved myself around $400 - $550 over having it done by a professional.

Seriously-- I bet this is the culprit. Just make sure if you're gonna do this that you FIRST check the six resistors (located at spots D-7011 thru D-7016) to make sure there are none burnt out / opened. It may be that one of those is fried also / instead. Since they are far easier to replace, it's good just to rule them out first.

And by the way, just FIY, when I did this I had kept the TV unplugged for about two weeks first, cuz I wanted to make sure all the capacitors were discharged and safe. Did I need that much time? Maybe not (some have said a few hours is sufficient), but I was also primarily concerned about the Flyback Transformer and its wires, which have the highest voltage (up to 30,000 volts) and can hold a charge pretty long. And I'm still here to write about it. So, check out the link, and see if you'd like to try this yourself, as well!

Convergence board

It wouldn't be the entire convergence board, you more than likely have a bad convergence STK-IC. Replacing the IC will take a good bit of knowledge and training as far as electronic repair is concerned, plus a complete convergence set up. In other words, unless your certified, you need to contact a tech. The convergence set up alone has driven men to drink.....
