Since you put both questions here I will assume they're related, if not please add more information, or ask separate questions.
Because, if you think they're related, then you've got a a worse problem than keyboard and mouse and sound. Especially since plugging in an external drive makes your speaker not work.

I'm going to say something messed up your motherboard. Sorry, that's the only thing they all have in common. :-(

Make sure that your display driver is installed correctly.
I had the same Laptop as you did and was able to have dual monitor.
Also check your Display driver in your control panel and make sure it set to dual monitor.

SOURCE: hp pavilion dv1000 laptop pc keyboard not working properly.

Does this computer KB work alright in SAFE mode? If it does then drivers and/or viruses are the problem. If it doesn't work in SAFE mode then it could be drivers and or keyboard. Now try booting into BIOS. At the date prompt you usually can type any keyboard letter. If the keyboard works here, then you definately have driver/virus issues. If not replace the keyboard.

SOURCE: I can't unmute my speakers.

It seems to me that the problem might be a driver issue. Try to restart it, if the problem remains, go to control panel, disable the driver, reboot again and return to control panel and enable the driver again. That might work.

Hello that means that your files properties are hidden in your PC. If your operating system is windows 7 you can change it by Clicking START, Control Panel and chose View by Category. Click appearance and personalization and click "show hidden files or folders", located under the "folder option" section. Choose the radio button that corresponds the "SHOW hidden Files, Folders and Drives" option. Uncheck the boxes that correspond to "Hidden protected operating system files". Then save the changes by clicking apply and OK.
If your operating system is Windows XP you change it by clicking My computer then double click the hard drive you want to open then click the view then chose show hidden files and folders.
Keep on touch best regards..

How do i burn a dvd from my external unit to my burner in my laptop

Depends on what operating system you have............

XP:
1) Left-click on Start > My Computer
Look at the drive letter that corresponds with the external drive.
It may be E:, or F:, or G:, or so forth.

[ D: drive is usually reserved for the optical drive in your laptop. C: drive is the Harddrive ]

2) Double-click on the drive letter
Open the folder you want, (Double-click on it), Right-click on the file name, Left-click on Copy

Vista and Win7:
1) Click on the Windows logo button
2) Click on Computer
3) Double-click on the drive letter that corresponds with the external drive
4) Double-click on the folder you want (Open), Right-click on the file name, Left-click on Copy.

Don't know what drive letter corresponds?
Look at the drive letters with a device listed to the right.
Memorize, or write down the drive letter that has a device listed to the right of it.

Turn the laptop off. (Properly)
Unplug the external unit.
Turn the laptop on, and go to My Computer. (Computer)

What drive letter no longer has a device listed to the left of it?
That is the drive letter you want.

Laptop off, plug the drive back in again. Turn the laptop on, and proceed with the above instructions.

No drive letter matching up to your external drive?
Post back in a Comment.

I installed vista sp 1 in my hp laptop and philips external harddrive was also plugged in and when i finished installing vista sp1 all folders showed E:\liuuv.scr.. i cant open any folders... all folders...

it seems viruses on your hard drive and the extension of viruses is .scr (it hides all files). Try this tips to un hide your files, you must show the hiden files on you pc by following these steps
1.open my computer
2. click on tools
3. click on folder option
4. on the advance setting find the category of hidden files and folder
5.
show choose hidden files and folder
6. click ok

the second step click run (you can find by left click start button )
type cmd
you will be in a command prompt and it will be C:\\
then type the path of your hard drive (for example F:)
after the path show your drive
(for example F:) type attrib -s -h -r -a /s /d
wait until the process finish
now you can see the original file of you with extension file folder not .exe or .scr
you can delete the file with extension .exe and .scr by one left click to the file and press shift and delete button on your keyboard.
don't forget to scan your drive with anti virus

NETBOOK KEYBOARD NOT WORKING

Hi,
You better check first if it is the keyboard on your netbook is the problem.
Below is the steps that you can use:

You need to use external keyboard ( typical keyboard usually use for desktop PC ). plug the external keyboard to the port where you can plug the cord of the external keyboard cord going to your netbook

Then, if the external keyboard will work the best thing to do is to bring your netbook to the support center near in your area to check if the keyboard of the netbook if its still working properly and to find out if you really need to purchase a replacement for the keyboard of your netbook

If the external keyboard will not work you also need to go bring your netbook to the support center to check the parts that is connected in your netbook.

Less than 15% of available space on "H"drive on HP dv9000 laptop

Windows may have filled your H:Drive with System Restore Points.

FOR WINDOWS XP:
By Default, Windows will save your System Restore Files on both Partitions of your Hard Drive. Right Click on My Computer and click Properties. (Or go to Control Panel and double-click the System icon)

Click the System Restore Tab at the top of the Window that pops up. In that box in the middle should be a listing of the C: and H: Drive. Click the H: Drive to highlight it and Click the Settings button.

Screenshot: http://technophobik.co.uk/vxp_control_panel/s005_sys_prop_system_restore.asp

On the next Window click the box that says: Turn off System Restore for this Drive. This will stop putting System Restore points on the H:Drive and it will also remove the System Restore Points already saved to the H:Drive.

FOR VISTA:

Click Start and then right click Computer and click Properties. Or in the Start menu, click Control Panel, and on the left hand side click Classic View. Then double click the System icon and on the left hand side again, click Advance System Settings.

Click the System Protection tab at the top of the box. The uncheck the box beside the H:Drive in the box under Automatic Restore Points.

If Windows tried to perform an automatic backup:

The Recovery Files should be hidden on your recovery partition H:. At the top of the screen in the H:Drive click Tools > Folder Options

Click the View Tab and go down the list of Advance Options and clcik in the circle to "Show Hidden Files and Folders"

If you computer used the WIndows Backup and Restore to backup files, look for a Folder Named PC-"Your WIndows User Name", with the name of your Windows Login after the PC-

If you don't see that folder, don't delete anything else.

If you do see that folder you can delete it You can open that folder and see the files that were stored. That is the backup Windows created and by default the Windows Back Up and Restore program likes to choose the first partition that is not the C:Windows partition. Do Not Delete anything else.

You can go to your Program Files in the Start Menu and go to the Windows Backup and Restore and in the options change the backup location to somewhere else, or turn off the automatic backup feature.

Don't use the partition set aside for the recovery for anything else or save data there.
