I don't know what the ers said. This problem takes place when the garage door catch is set to far from the gear drive. The door is set to go down further than your space allows. The door thinks it is hitting an obstruction and returns to up position.

Repair:

Loosen bolts on door catch( there should be a string located there that disengages the chain from the catch. Pull the to the down position, adjustse catch. push button to raise door.
The door should not move because the catch is disengaged.
When the chain has made it to the down position,
Adjust catch to current stopped location.

Sounds like the battery in wall unit is low, or it needs to be programed for the opener. If you are not comfortable programming remote you may have to cal a GDO company. You can call Chamberlain and the will help you.

My Chamberlain Liftmaster Professional 1/2 HP door goes down all the way but then it comes back up again. I see nothing in the way at all. is there some way to adjust the sentsitivity on it???

If the door is hitting the floor and then reversing you need to adjust the down limit control. This control is on the side of the motor unit. Turn the control a couple turns in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. This should stop the door short of the floor. Now some tweaking of that control will most likely be necessary to get it just right. Just remember if you run the motor too much it will shut off on the thermal overload and you will have to wait as much as 15 minutes for it to cool.

Liftmaster Professional Formula I, will not close.. Goes down and hits floor and open up again. Thank you

On the operator is a screw adjuster for how far down the door goes. Find this adjustment and rotate it in the direction of less travel. Then you may have to spend a few minutes setting it so the door closes snugly.

Check alignment of the obstruction sensors .... they shoot a light beam across the doorway about 6 inches above the floor. One is mounted on each side of the door track near the floor.

Chamberlain chain gdo. goes all the way up until it hits gdo box and gets stuck. unstick it and it works for awhile then it happens again

Unstick it and close the door. While the door is closed locate the 'up limit' control on the side of the motor unit. Turn this control 2 full turns in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Should be good to go.

My older Craftsman garage door opener comes down about 6" & then goes back up. I just replaced all the rollers o& the opener worked fine. Then I tightened the chain on the opener & it worked ok...

If the main light flashes 10 times when the door goes back up it is a door sensor problem. You chain should sag just a little. If you tighten it too much it will click as it goes over the sprocket. You can increase the down force which is an adjustment near where all those white wires go. A 1/4 turn should be enough. Release the door from the opener and operate it by hand. It should move freely and when you have the door approximately waist high it should stay put. Neither raising nor closing.

Liftmaster gdo won't operate with door or remote

Hi there, when the problem first started was the door being used frequently? If your GDO was used quite a few time's in a short period of time the "overload" may have triped. The makers of all GDO's now adays install an overload witch is an electrical safety device protecting the motor. This prevents over heating in turn burning up the motor. To rectify unplug for 15-20 mins. If you have Model number 1270 turn to pg. 7 in owners manuel. Insure all door locks are free. Insure power to electrical outlets by pluging desk lamp in same out as GDO. what model do you have?

Lift-Master GDO goes up, not down

If the door operates freely without any binding, while operating it manually then It would appear that the obstruction sensor mounted across the doors path is ether out of alignment, lens dirty,or malfunctioning

My GDO only goes down

sounds like down travel limit has to be backed off . if this always happened, chain may be out of sync.
