Light bulbs constantly burn out in Chamberlain Garage Door Opener

The light bulbs constantly burn out in my unit. Upon removing the bulbs, it seems that the end of the bulb (that makes contact in the socket) is burned. Any ideas?

Unplug the unit from the power and take a screwdriver and pull out on the center contact of the socket.

I have 93 low rider, there is no brightness difference when brakes are applied. I can hear the relay pulling in when I hit the brakes. new lamp is a two filament and right voltage (1157). Any thoughts

Hi, Kyle your tail light bulb socket contacts should have a constant 12 volts on one and 0 volts on the other until the brake lever/pedal is depressed making the other contact 12 volts if the small filament is constantly burning but the large filament does not light up when the brakes are applied then the problem is a faulty new bulb or the bulb contacts are not making full contact with the socket contacts because the spring behind the contact board has collapsed due to rust and old age or the contact board is stuck in the socket housing because of dirt and or corrosion thus not fully extending to make a solid connection. This can easily be fixed by applying a drop of solder on both light bulb contacts. If your brake light socket contact does not get 12 volts when the breaks are applied then you have a faulty brake light switch or a break in the wiring that goes from the switch to the tail light, a test light and wiring diagram now become your best friends. Why would light bulb in refrigerator keep going out

Check the hot pin of the bulb socket, its probably loose or pressed flat. Pull it up a bit so it sits higher, then put the bulb back it should make better contact with the bulb and not burn out. Make sure you do this will the unit unplugged from the wall outlet.

I have an 06 Dodge Charger. My rear passenger side turn signal isn't working. The bulb seems to be good because the tail light still works and it's the same bulb. What could be the problem here?

the turn signal and the brake light,, not the tail light section use the same filament, so be sure that the bulb is ok, have someone apply the brake,, if it goes on your bulb is fine and you have a different problem than the bulb , on the newer vehicles with the glass end on the bulb and the 3 wires ( sometimes 4 ) the wire gets smashed flat against the glass and doesn't make a good contact , remove the bulb and very gently pull the wire up away from the glass end, see if that works, if not, do the same thing to the socket end

My Crafstman garage opener is melting my light bulbs!

Rather than new bulbs I suggest you unplug the unit and use a small screwdriver to pull out on the center contact of the light socket.

Light bulbs burn out constantly on Chamberlain garage door opener

Get an electrician to measure voltage where the light is plugged in. It sounds like you have too high a voltage.

Light does not come on when I open/close door, not the bulb

Good Morning:

I also substituted Floescent Bulbs for the standard bulbs. The bulbs would not light up although the relay was working. It seemed that the Florescent bulbs had a somewhat shorter neck. What I did was unplug the drive system from the outlet and then bend the metal connector in the socket so that it would come out further towards the opening of the socket. I then repluged the drive. The Floercent bulbs now have contact and are working perfectly. Simple problem with a simple solution.

Right turn signal flashes too fast

Usually this is caused by a burnt and melted bulb socket (look inside the socket at the bulb contacts), you have to replace it with a new-revised bulb socket, which entails cutting the wiring harness and splicing a new socket. This is a factory deffect which GM refuses to acknowledge.

Light bulbs burning out

That does sound odd! On one hand, I would suspect that maybe the door is getting slammed and that vibration may be contributing to the failure. But that would be much more likely for an incandescent bulb than a fluorescent type. Which is yours? You may have a bad connection on the socket which is causing some excess heat. Does the blown bulb look funny on the ends or at the connection? Assuming you're using the bulb your manual calls for, and the socket is okay, it may be a problem on the control board. Once you've digested this reply, let me know what you find and we can take it from there.
