The bolt holding in the mower drive clutch failed -- second time in two months!
It's a 180 mile round trip to the nearest dealer, so last time I got the parts and had a local handyman replace the entire clutch (which was shredded). I'm wondering if the dealer might know something that would make it worthwhile to trailer the mower to the dealer? I also wonder if I'm doing something wrong, although I haven't changed anything, and the first clutch lasted six years. I mow two acres of pretty rough pasture about every four days, occasionally sideswiping 6" wood posts as I try to cut close to the fence line.

I have this mower and had this same problem. It turned out the bolts holding the motor to frame backed out and were allowing the motor to tilt, and then the belts would slip and burn up. Check all motor bolts for tight, and if not tight change bolts and lock washers. Lock washers were not originally on these mowers.
