Question about Pentair FILTER TANK BOTTOM, 48 SQFT
I have the same problem as thealgator. I have a Hayward S-180T-4 sand filter. I just moved into a new house and tried to backwash the filter for the first time. It now seems to be 'stuck' in backwash mode even though the lever points to filter. Is is possible that the switch is broken?
You proberly have sand traped in handle shaft above spider gaskit.
It is best to take apart - clean - grease (pool grease) - put back together.
When backwashing (or moving handle to other postion)- let pressure build up escape before moving handle to next position.

The gasket inside the valce is either out of place or damaged. You can rebuild the valve with a gasket set. For a quote on the repair kit, send your valve model number using our contact form at www.arrowpools.net and we can identify the correct kit for you.
