Hi,
My three year old Maytag SAV5710 died of a slow death. First load noises right after I bought it, then rust stains on my whites (probaly dark clothes too just did't see them), then the water started leaking from the bottom. Now I found the transmission is bad and has to be replaced. This is too much trouble for a washer under three years old. Buyer beware of these machines. I'm told they are really from the Amana line of washers, and Maytag just placed their brand name on it when they bought Amana What should the cost of labor be and how long should it take to fix it? I don't want to be taken for a ride on the labor cost.
It will need a seal and transmission. Expect one and a half to two hours labor. Best bet. Bite the bullet and get another washer as this will probably happen again.
