Re: noise

When the motor fan or motor bearings go bad, the motor will run real loud and will have to be replaced. Part #2031214 and sells for around $55.

Hi Nena, it's Jack at Dyson.

Noisy hoover

1 Check the impeller to make sure it is not missing part of a blade or has something jammed in it that could throw it off balance.
2 Check the bearings on the rotating brush, especially at the belt end.
3 Remove belt and turn on. If noise still persists, it likely would be the motor is shot.

A motor noise indicate a loosen parts of the motor. The bushing, brushes also a lack of oil or grease will cause a noisy motor.
Check motor and apply oil or grease, inspect also the bushing, brushes.

Excessive motor noise. vacuum works fine.

Are you looking to reduce the noise of the vacuum? It is unlikely that you can do anything to reduce the noise of it. Vacuums tend to be very noisy so the best solution is to buy a quieter vacuum. This vacuum seems to be a popular choice for a quiet solution:

However, this vacuum is considerably more costly than the vacuum you own. A cheaper alternative would be this:

Both of these vacuums have high reviews and have been commended for their noise reduction.

Very loud "jet like" noise,please

Vacuums are noisy, but shouldn't sound like a jet.....

Trying to find out what is wrong depends on what kind of noise it makes, i.e. high squeal, vibration, whining and where it comes from.

Here is a webpage with troubleshooting advice on noise in vacuum cleaners. Hopefully you should be able to track down the problem.

If you need further help with repairs, please reply back. Thanks,

Makes a loud noise like a grinding noise then smokes comes out and it smells like burning rubber? When I take the (rod) brush off with the belt then run the vacuum there is no more noise? Please help me...

Your belt is worn and stretched and so it is slipping on the motor drive shaft. That is why it is noisy and smells like burning rubber. You simply need to replace the belt. You can get replacement belts here:

Very noisy after styrofoam bag was sucked up by accident. Motor itself is extremely noisy.

you could have damaged the brush assembly or there could be something else wrapped around it take it apart and clean the brush and see if that wont stop the noise

Hoover very noisy after new belt installed.

what is the belt # you have installed (generic)? Yes, there are problems with using generic belts on Hoover Vacuums. If you have noise I would suspect the roller, and replace it. the cost is about $25 and is something that you can install. The newer type are mande of wood and are very quiet.
