Was the old one still working except for the gummy keys? Also you can likely wash the old one so long as you keep the bottom dry. Hang it up and allow to dry well before attempting to use it.

Connect an external keyboard to see of you can boot your system. If so, you probably missed something when you replaced the new keyboard. Go through the steps to reconnect your new keyboard. Hope this helps.

It is virtually impossible to clean or fixed a keyboard that has liquid spill on it. You need to replace the keyboard.

You'll need to swap the keyboard out.

Here's a guide from Dell.

You just remove the keyboard and replace it with one from ebay.

Cheap and easy ;)

I spilt a glass of juice over my husbands keyboard and now it wont work properley! can i have this repaired for him or shall i just buy a new one?

Hi, Jenny.

If you are talking about an external keyboard, it's not worth repairing and easy to replace. A keyboard on a laptop is more difficult to replace, but also not worth repairing.

Since juice is acidic, the circuitry on the keyboard is probably destroyed.

Hope this helps.

Cannot type certain letters

Hi,

Verify that the key is not working in more than one application. It is possible that some keys may not be used in all programs. This generally always applies to the Function keys F1 through F12. If not all keys are working in all programs and you have Windows, attempt to boot the computer to a MS-DOS prompt or Safe Mode and test the keyboard in DOS.

If it appears that a substance has been spilt into the computer.

If any type of liquid has been spilt within the keyboard you can attempt to clean it . however, because of the dramatic decrease of cost with computer keyboards, it is recommended that you simply replace the keyboard to help prevent frustration and possibility of failure again in the future.

Thanks,
CF

Keys are sticking the keyboard. Can i clean underneath the keys?

Depending upon how sticky the keys are, it might be easier to buy a cheap replacement keyboard.  Trust me, it takes a whole lot of patience and a steady hand to take apart the keyboard key by key and then put it back together.

Replacing keyboard for advent 7108 laptop

I have had the same problem several times over and it is VERY likely that the liquid has reached other components (specifically the motherboard) and will corrode anything that the liquid has come to rest on. The keyboard itself is easy enough to remove and replace, but the only place I am finding parts for advents is in the UK. This means replacement of the keyboard COULD be costly and in the long run the computer may fail due to corrosion especially if it was pop or juice or any other acidic liquid. Here is the link I found for a possible solution.  http:/www.adventspares.co.uk  if they dont have it, these guys might... http://www.techno-mart.co.uk/advent.html
Good luck, and I hope you havent damaged your motherboard! Kirk

Laptop keyboard do not work & system restart automatically

You probably got juice on the motherboard. I’m afraid the only solution is to have the motherboard replaced. There might be a chance that the juice will dissipate after time.
