How many and what colour wires are in the wires leading to the cig lighter end of this FM transmitter?

I would like to cut off the cig lighter end of this FM transmitter and splice the wire to a longer wire with another cig lighter because the cig lighter has to reach the back of the vehicle. I haven't cut the FM transmitter wire yet. Does anyone know what coloured wires are inside this device? If so, would I be able to splice it to another cig lighter wire? Thank you very much

Don't cut it, use something like this: http://www.carid.com/dorman/lighter-extension-cord-mpn-56479.html Check your local auto parts store

Testimonial: "Thank you. I looked locally in places like home depot for something like this but they had to be ordered online and I needed it for Thursday. I will check the auto parts store. Thanks for the idea."

My 2006 9-3 single cd player doesn't work, doesn't even light up=any suggestions on getting it to work?

Best bet honestly is purchase an FM transmitter which are small compact and powered with cig lighter plug . Then just plug your phone or MP3 into the unit and u tune the transmitter to your car radio and play your music thru car stereo. Cd's always get scratched lost etc so maybe the above worth a try and about 25 to 30 bucks max .. Nick

How can I connect an mp3 player to a Buick Regal 2002

The easiest way would be to zip to a local walmart or similar store
pick up a FM Transmitter
then you just tune your radio channel to the same channel as the FM Transmitter,
plug it in your cig lighter... and the other wire goes into the earphone jack on the mp3
and should be working at this point

I ran a small tire pump from the ciarette lighter, it pumped some then stopped. Now the cig lighter doesnt work. My neighbor offered to help . his car did the same thing. I checked the fuse under the dash...

Try replacing the fuse with another of the same size eg 10amp. While you are under there check other fuses. The label is not always correct on Australian Toyotas, could be the same in your country.
If the fuse is blown, there is a short in the pump. Throw it away as it has blown the fuses in both vehicles. (yours and the neighbors)
Next time you are at a spare parts supplier buy yourself a cheap (usually under $10.00) LED computer safe test light. These are easy to use. It has a earth lead with a clip on the end and a probe on the other end that you touch to the fuse and see if it lights up the LED bulb.
First you connect the earth lead to a good earth, the ignition key while in the ignition is usually a good earth or a bolt that goes into the vehciles body. (You need a good earth)
Then you just touch the probe end to one side of the fuse and see if it lights up. If not you touch the other end of the same fuse and it should light up.
If only one end is lighting up the testers bulb the fuse is broken. (Yes it can look fine but be still broken)
If both ends don't light up move the earth lead to a bolt on the vehicle and recheck also check other fuses to make sure your have a good earth.
Tip, Some fuses only work with the ignition turned on while other work all the time.
You can also check the cig lighter with the test light. after checking the fuse is Ok
Again find a good earth bolt and attach the earth lead and place probe end into centre of empty cig lighter and it should light up the bulb. Becareful to to touch the side at the same time as this is the earth for the cig lighter.

Monster Icarplay wireless plus doesn't charge or play. Has some LED's on station control that have power, The part that goes into the lighter is dark

chances are, your fuse is broken for the cig-socket you're using. try testing it in another car or checking the fuses that go to it.

Check to make sure the fm transmitter is digitally locked on the correct station on the radio and that the end that fits into the cigarette lighter is tight. The end twists on, so make sure it is tight.
