RFU is a remote firmware upgrade. Usually that error will occur when somebody messes with the printer while the firmware is downloading. Try doing the upgrade again. If it works great. But personally, I don't think that it will work. You probably have to replace the formatter. C9661-69002 for a duplex model. and C9660-69011 for the simplex(non-duplex)printer.
To locate the IP address with the HP Designjet 5500, follow these steps below:
Press the Down Arrow keys on the front panel until the Setup Menu is displayed. Press ENTER. Go to the Utilities menu and select Test Prints.Press ENTER. For the HP Designjet 5000 series, select Service Config. Press ENTER. For the HP Designjet 5500 series, select Network-card Config. Press ENTER
use this link to sharps down load site. save these down loads to your desktop. then unhook from the internet and disable your anti virus. run the install from your desktop. all in one drivers and alot of anti virus software conflict and incomplete installs are frequent http://www.sharpusa.com/CustomerSupport/ProductDownloads.aspx
if you have a oem install disk uninstall the present installation disconnect from the web disable you anti virus and reinstall. if your down loading from the web save the files to your desk top. disconnect from the web disable your anti virus and run the install from your desktop. scanner drivers are often thought to be viruses by antivirus programs and will prevent them from being installed
if you already tried a deep clean and there is no improvement on the printout then you need to buy a new printhead for your printer but if there is an improvement then do another deep clean until you get an acceptable print.
Try removing all of the paper in the tray, fanning it and replace it. This sometimes happens when pages stick to each other. i've seen static electricity do this in the winter, and humidity do it in the summer.
In fact, I had a similar problem with my Kodak 5500 just yesterday. We've had 9 inches on rain in the past 2 weeks, and the air has been excessively humid. When I picked up the pages to reinsert them in the tray I could feel the dampness in the paper.
Make sure when you put it in, you are firmily pushing it towards the back of the printer, until you hear a loud snap. When you put it in the first time, DO NOT put the ink cartridges in. Close the cover and wait until it tells you that the ink cartridges are missing. If it is still telling you that the printhead is missing, it should be replaced. You may contact kodak support @ 1 800 421 6699, and have them help you to replace it, free of charge.
The printhead is not for sale.
IF after replacing the printhead you have the same problem, then is the printer the one that needs replacing.
