We had a static surge in house, no power to subwoofer, can it be a fuse? If so, can it be replaced?

Perform a quick test on the wires to check that they work. Check outlets, power cable, and fuse. Most subwoofers have a "standby" LED that glows to indicate active power. If it's not lit, check that the subwoofer is securely plugged into a wall socket, surge protector, or power strip.

The tv have fries alot more components on the tv power supply board,than just the fuse.U have to have alots more equipments and very good eclectronic testing and troubleshooting skills to find out what exact components parts are burn and to replaced it on the tv power supply board.U could take a gamble chance and try website like Ebay.com to buy a whole new refurbish power supply board for the replacement.Might get the tv to be working again might not because power surges,if it have a big enough electrical static charges it will fries alots more boards and it components some where else too.Tv worth repairing or not it is up to u for to do the researching for the new tv prices and the prices charges by tv repair shops by those tv Techs. for repairing the tv..

hello kath... if the tv won't come on now the power surge fried internal fuse and possibly more. The least expensive way to get this repair is to physically take the tv to the repair shop. If they have to make house calls, the cost goes up significantly. Joe

I would look for somekind of fuse or bracker on the subwoofer and then find an alternitive input to test it suchas a stareo; or try an ohmetter

I have a similar problem, where a power surge zapped the power supply on the power section of my Velodyne DLS5000R recently. Probably a transformer or a capacitor in the power supply. Maybe the architecture of your amplifier is open and you can find it easily, but on mine, it's closed and glued where I can't get to it, and the only solution from Velodyne is to send it back for a replacement, at a flat charge of $230. Frustrating!

Could be the power supply but the transformer may
have opened up due to a "surge". Might have to contact Polk to see whats up and/or dealer as the
amp may need sent in for repair!

No I'm sorry motherboards are not fused. They are pretty resilent thou.
A few power spikes and surges shouldn't knock you out. However, if the surge was large enough to shut to system down, then you may have problems. Anytime someone removes or touch's a motherboard they are suppose to be wearing anti static wrist wrap's to protect the board from static.

This can often be described as "ground loop hum." Which essentially means that the circuit providing power is not properly grounded at the electrical and/or signal source and it introduces noise.

If it is connected by a coaxial cable, move one end of it's terminals by twisting it while it is plugged into the connector. If it produces static or the hum goes away then it is the coaxial connection of the end you are twisting...it is either not tight enough or seating in deep enough, or it is a faulty cable. If none of those testing methods suffice, try plugging the subs' amp into a different outlet, or, into a surge protection device with noise canceling circuitry such as made by Tripplite. Other sources of the noise can also come from the amp being powered by the same house circuit as such things as your refrigerator, fans, fluorescent lighting, microwaves or any device with an electric motor.
