Re: nikon sb-600

Sounds like your camera is on "Slow synch" or "rear curtain" mode..

I am going through lithium 9x's batteries VERY fast with my SB-600. The flash is about 5 or 6 years old. When I try to change the batteries they're so hot you can barely touch them. When I do Weddings I...

Do not use the Gary's or white dome junk on the flash.
It will overheat the flash, warped the Fresnel Lens and make 4AA very hot.

You are bouncing your flash up in the ceiling /or sideways.

You are using reduction camera & zooming at wide angle with also high f stop.

Buy a real pro flashes like the following:
1. ATG Gold MG8k Flash Kim X3
2. ATG Gold Cyclops
3. ATG Gold Qflash
4. Metz 76MZ-5
5. Quantum Qflash

Even the claimed pro Nikon SB-910/900/800 are junks & overheat, shutdown when you pushed them.

Sporadic off camera flashes triggered with pocket wizards will not be as obtrusive as you may think. IMP, It's just as obtrusive as the onslaught of small digi cam flashes that usually occur..Cheerss!!....

Can I use Nikon SB-22s speed light with my Nikon digital SLR D5000? Is that compatible? I bought SB-22s for my previous Nikon film camera. Thank you.

You should be able to use your SB-22 with your D5000, however you can only use it in the manual mode since it is not a TTL speed light. That means you will need to manually set both the camera and the flash unit. I have done that successfully with an SB-25 on both my D800 and D90 in a pinch, but you should consider investing in either an SB-700 or SB-910. They are allot more versatile.

Need to find a photo capacitor for a sb-600 flash
you may use 680uF-1000 but 350-400Volt.
Check Voltage,be carefull!!!!!
in you system voltage exeed nominal level 330V! may be 350-360V-result die capacitor.
For normal use capacitor on 330v good maximum voltage wil be ~280V.

sorry for my english)

Check in the user guid for your camera about their recomended shutter speed setting for the flash.

Try using the camera and the flash in "A" (automatic) to start with.

Nikon d80 continuous mode

This can be that the flash sync speed of the camera is not correct. There may not be enough exposure from the flash to the subject during the opened curtain (shutter) sequence.

Nikon SB600 flash behaving strangely

I have sent my SB-600 to Nikon twice in the past 6 months to resolve this problem. They have fixed it both times, but never told me what the problem was. I've had it back for exactly 1 day now, and it's started back up again already. If I receive a solution (or replacement), I'll let you know!
