The RAM compartment for the Asus M6000 series notebooks could be accessed by turning the notebook upside down. You will find in the middle of the down-side a cover with 2 screws. If you unscrew these 2 screws, you can access the RAM slots.

Hello try to insert the old ram module again.
Your mainboard uses DDR ram, not DDR2 or DDR3 these to will not fit the socket.
The mainboard only supports up to 2 gb of ram.
If more ram is insertet, the mainboard will not boot.
More info can be found here at ASUS:

http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=1&s=20&m=K8V-VM&os=17&hashedid=IQoVElAYUAC4aAz3

Try to download the manual, by selecting your windows system.
You will need adobe reader, to read the content.
The manual should also be helpfull when connecting the cables in the right order again.
Remove also any dust inside the pc, with compressed air.
And take antistatic precautions when working on the mainboard !!

Hope you will get the pc running again :-)

I have a asus m6000 laptop the power supply green led flickers when plug in and the power light. I tried different power supply and the same problem. Cheers Greg

Hello.

The most common reasons are the power adapter/cord and power jack.

If you move/wiggle the power adapter at the point where it connects to the laptop, and the power goes off and on, the power jack is the problem.

The power jack is inside the laptop and either needs soldering or replacement.

If no change, the power adapter is probably faulty and needs replacement.

Also, power off and remove the battery. If the laptop powers on with just the adapter connected, your battery is faulty.

Hope this helps.

1. Full power down. Unplug the power cord from the Power supply. Then hold down the pc power button.
Try to boot the pc.

2. Open the case and reseat the graphics card, hard drive, and RAM.

3. Take out one of the RAM sticks if there is 2 or more. Swap the RAM sticks in different RAM slots.

4. Set the Cmos jumper to clear. Power up the pc. Power down the PC. Set the Cmos jumper back to normal position, power up the PC.

5. Unplug and replug all the power supply cables.

6. Check the powersupply function. Either by a powersupply voltage checker, put the powersupply in a different pc, or try a different powersupply in the problem computer.

Could be bad ram, motherboard, cpu, powersupply, videocard.

Try RAM with a different speed. My 800 mhz RAM didn't work until I installed 533 mhz RAM and adjusted to 800 mhz in BIOS. Newly built PC, default must be set as 533 mhz because I reset the CMOS and still couldn't POST to BIOS. Only taking out all RAM gave me any sort of audible error code. Luckily I found some 533 RAM before I RMA'd the board.
