Motherboards designed for AMD processors have radical differences in design from those designed for Intel processors. The most obvious of those differences is the socket which accommodates the processor, which is totally different in both case.
This means that you cannot use an Intel processor on a motherboard designed for an AMD processor, & vice versa. You have to replace the motherboard with one designed for the Intel processor you plan to use.

Greetings.I have GA-K8NE motherboard. My question is which is the best processor i can upgrade? My current processor is AMD semprom 2600+.thank you!

Hi!

The best processor you can use with your GA-K8NE ( socket 754) is the AMD Athlon 64 3700+ Newcastle. It has 1MB of L2 cache, system bus of 1600 MT/s.

This processor is supported on both revisions of the motherboard (rev.1.x and rev 2.x)

Regards,

Bogdan

GD8 motherboard

The GD8 mobo spec says that the bopard is only compatible with P4 and Celeron D processors so no you cant swap it! Generally the Athlon 1800+ is a better processor but it depends on the mobo, BIOS, RAM setup etc.

What is the latest AMD processor that fits GA-75748 motherboard

Will you be using the same motherboard? If so you need to know the board manufacturer and model. Check the manufacturers website to find out the largest processor supported. You may have to update your Bios. Use caution and follow all instructions very carefully or you will end up with a boat anchor!
