Re: unable to connect new laptop with existing wireless...

Try to connect with your phone no.. with area code firs and without any space and dashes..continuous 10 digit no..if not..
go to other pc, which is working..
open a new internet explorer page and in the address bar enter Http://
it will prompt for a user name and a passwd..
do not type any thing for the username leave it blank, for passwd enter admin..
you would be in the linksys setup page , click wireless tab,
you would see all your w/ls information..
below the wireless tab in the blue bar you would see a wireless security sub tab in the blue bar.. you would find the key in key 1

We have just changed our internet connection form a bigpond wireless stick to a an adsl moden with wireless is not possible to connect our computer to the modem so are trying to do it...

Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access. The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, configure the router'swireless settings ie SSID, plus the WPAor WPA2 encryption key and then configure wireless cards in the laptops and orcomputers with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktopcomputers can communicate with your wireless router.

Dont no my wpa pass phrse

It's common for us to forget passwords the problem is when you need them:) It is simple to correct this problem but you need to connect directly to the router via a hardwire (ethernet cable). If you haven't changed the default IP setting on the router your going to do the following. Through your Internet Browser your going to type in the IP address of the Dlink router in the address bar. This default IP is You will be prompted for username and password. By default that is Admin and password blank (nothing). Once logged in you will choose from the Dlink menu Setup then Wireless Settings. At this point keep it simple use the wireless wizard to re-create a new passprase for your WPA. By the way update your laptop as well. Some old wireless drivers don't work properly with WPA passprase and make it apprear your passphrase is incorrect when its fine. Good Luck.

Only one of my laptops can access the wireless network. When trying to log on the others we enter the pass word and i say can not connect I have a Belkin G wireless router and a road runner cable ISP

Can you provide details of the other PCs Try the following
1) remove wireless profiles from your PCs and then try to reconnect 2) Log into the router and remove the wireless security and see if the PCs can now connect and if so - try adding security again

Trying a add another desk top to an existing Belkin wireless G router at home. Right now there's a desk top and laptop working off this router.Try several times and still can't connect to internet.

Make sure the Belkin wireless is the only device directly connecting to your internet service provider's router/modem. Usually that port is labelled "WAN" or even "Internet". The Belkin should have extra ports/jacks for WIRED connections, right? You then connect the PC into the other remaining ports/jacks on the Belkin (if they're wired) or just use the wireless for the laptop if the laptop has wireless. After getting the wireless going, though, you should lock it down by using WPA encryption key if possible.

Just came home with an acer laptop its asking for my passphrase or security key i don't have a clue what it is or where to find it got a dell xp home edition desktop

passphrase or security key deals with wireless internet if you are not using this then disable the wireless card this can be done Holding down FN on left side of keyboard and then Pressing the Function key at the top that relates to wireless it will have a little tower on it. only do this if you are not going to use wireless if you are going to use wireless you will need the passprase and security keys.

Picks up wireless network but unable to connect to the internet. I am trying to connect to the wireless on a laptop and a phone, both work fine else where but i am unable to connect to the internet using...

what is the wireless status in system tray? is it local or local and internet.
1. first check if it works fine with wire conection or not.
2.if it fine with cable then issue is with wireless. probably issue with Wireless security key.
3. go to available wireless networks and select the net work, if it is asking for wireless key please enter that. if you donot remember that perform router reset.that takes care of it.

Cannot add a new laptop on my eHome wireless router

There is not a limit to the amount of devices that can hook "wirelessly" to your router, but your bandwith is limited. Internet bases phone services will eat up a large majority of your available bandwith. try limiting the bandwith of your phone service or disconnect it all together and see if you can then connect.

pls rate as "very helpful" if this assists you in your problem. ^_^

Need to find existing WEP ID, do not want to reset my WEP ID

Flip over your ACTIONTEC and you would see there the default wep key. If you've had it personalized before, you have to open the configuration page of your modem and check for the wep key.

To go to the configuration page, open your internet explorer and type in on the address bar. that is the default address for your actiontec. type in your username and password when prompted. the usual default it ADMIN for username and PASSWORD (lowercase) for password. or you could also try ADMIN (uname)-ADMIN(pword).

click on the wireless settings icon and then click on basic security settings. scroll down on the middle of the page and you will see there your wep key.

if you are unable to open the configuration page because you forgot your username and password, you can reset your modem so that it the uname and password will go back to its factory default settings (admin/password). However, if you are using pppoe connection (authentication using username and password to connect to network) you can lose your connection and you would have to configure your router. so be careful not to press the reset button at the back.

Unable to access the internet via my laptop

One of two problems. The Security Key for your wireless connection is wrong, or the McAfee is causing a problem. Most likely conflicting with any other virus software on your computer. Try removing McAfee from the computer and your solution should go away. Try another virus software such as Avast! Home edition. McAfee is known for having issues with wireless internet connections.
