On any refrigerator that I have owned, the higher the number the cooler the temperature. Thus 5 would be the coldest temperature setting. If you set it too cold, items will freeze in your refrigerator.

I can't find a manual on the internet for the Sanyo model sr-8k fridge. Does anyone have one they can share? Would be much appreciated thanks.

I searched the internet and did not see a manual mentioned online.

So, you may wish to contact vendors on the internet to ask if they have a manual. FIXYA is a free internet service and does not sell or mail products, and is designed for do it yourself (DIY) repairs.

In the Philippines, Sanyo folded into Panasonic and Haier, so it is possible that they might provide assistance in that country, although I did not locate that model information on the internet.

Too cold

Over time, internal parts wear out. If you made all of the manual adjustments to the thermostat control and it fails to raise the temperature accordingly, then it needs replacement. Contact the manufacturer for replacement parts and instructions.

Sanyo Mini Fridge Freezes Everything

Hello,
For me I think you have a problem in Thermostat switch contact. Or the rotary switch was not in good contact point, better check it and if still the same, proceed to check your thermocouple if functioning.

Freezing at any tempeture

I ordered a new thermostat (about $40 with shipping) & installed it. It's pretty easy to replace. The fridge has been working fine since.

Sanyo SR-4912M 4.9 cu ft refrig temp problems

Greetings macx,

The average refrigerator temperature is between 35 & 38 degrees. The maximum temperature a refrigerator can be before bacteria begins to grow is 39 degrees. It would be my recommendation to exchange this unit if you can at your local retailer. If this was purchased at Best Buy, you have a 30 day return/exchange policy on this item with no restocking fee.

Thank you,

Agent Dort

Refrigerator freezes everything even on the lowest setting

Is everything really frozen or just the top shelf stuff? You may have a thermistor (temp sensor) problem if the compressor just runs and runs and runs all the time. Take a glass of water and place a thermometer in it for about 3 hours then take a temp. reading. That will let you know what the real temps are. See if you can cause the compressor to kick off and on by changing the temp settings (go to real low for about 5 minutes then back up to high). Let us know what happens.
