My Sceptre LCD X9G-Komodo IV is no longer worked as usual, the screen dos not have video. If I press the button OFF and ON again, the monitor will display information for about 1 second and after that the screen is blanked/blacked out even the power is still ON (green LED). Could you please help me to resolve this.
Thank you.

-   Thank you so much dvornik16 ! I was given one of these monitors that had the same symptoms and was headed for the trash. I replaced the 2, 470 uFx 25 V with what Radio Shack had which was the same but 35V and it is now working fine. Now I can get rid, donate, of this 19" CRT that I was also given when a friend upgraded to an LCD. I can't wait for the people I know to start throwing away, my way, 42" TV's when the inverters start going bad.

-   Just happened to me this weekend. Monitor will display Windows XP desktop image for about 1 second, then the display turns off. I turn off the monitor power, then turn it back on - this results in another 1 second display of the image. I have removed the monitor from the desktop PC and attached it to another PC - same observations occur.-   Mikhun

-   My sceptre x9g komodo IV flashes on for a second then goes blank. Every I turn it off and on again it does the samething.-   bill13

-   Screen goes black after (1) second on my Sceptre X9G Komodo IV 19" LCD monitor. If i turn it off and back on, it will display for (1) second and then go black again. If i repeat the ON / OFF process 2 or 3 dozen times, it will eventually stay on - until i turn it off. Once operating normally, i can turn it off and on without problem. The next time i boot my computer from a cold start, i experience the same symptoms. The computer works fine with an old CRT monitor i substituted. IS IT TIME TO GET A NEW MONITOR, or is this problem fixable? This appears to be a somewhat common problem based on other similar postings.-   FSturek

I have a 19" Sceptre Comodo display. After 3 years it got the problem everybody complains about. Took it apart yesterday.

There are 4 capacitors in a row on the power supply board (it has a socket for the power cord and is covered by a metal shield. The caps are barrel-like things standing upright on the side opposite to the power cord socket.) Two of them are 470 uFx 25 V, they are next to each other. In my case, one of them popped up and another one was bloated. I pulled out the power supply board (make sure you unplug the power cord and press the power button do discharge the high voltage caps before messing with your monitor) after disconnecting all sockets (mark'em!). I assume that you have new caps handy (I paid $2.10 for a pair at a local electronics store), they must have the same capacity and voltage rating. Now grab a soldering iron, remove old caps, and put new ones in. You must observe polarity! (Usually "minus" pin is labeled on the cap's side. Mark down "minus" and "plus" pins location of old caps and put the new caps in exactly the same way! Otherwise, you can blow the caps.) If you are not used to work with a soldering iron, hire somebody or buy a new monitor. Check the quality of the work (no shorts, solid contacts, etc), assemble the monitor back and may be it will work (did for me). If it does, you put one monitor less into the city dumpster, be proud to get a working monitor for less than $5, and force you mother-in-law to take this shiny new replacement display she just bought back to the store.

Of course I do not guarantee that my procedure will work for and you can use it at your own risk only (i.e. I am not liable for any damages).

Same Problem
Here is my conversation with Sceptre ...

Val:
X20G-Naga III goes blank after aprox 15 seconds?
Call accepted by operator Technical Support. Currently in room: Val, Technical Support.Technical Support:
sounds like a power inverter issue with the display.
Technical Support:
how long have you had the monitor?
Val:
about 2 years
Technical Support:
The unit carries a 1 year warranty.
Technical Support:
As long as it is not the display panel, it costs $100.00 USD to service the monitor, parts / labor included and shipping of $35.00 USD. If you are interested in the repair, please go to our website http://www.sceptre.com. Click on SUPPORT. Download the RMA form and fill it out completely including the out of warranty box. When you have finished filling out the form, please fax it back to us for processing. We will give you a RMA number within 24-48 hours. Please put that number on the box that you are going to ship the monitor in. When you have finished packing up the monitor, you'll need to ship the monitor to us with the address that is at the bottom of the RMA form, thanks.
Val:
From what I am seeing on the web, your LCD has a design problem
Technical Support:
I'm sorry if it's out of warranty, the out of warranty repair is the only repair service I can offer.
Val:
can you send me the schematic for the inverter so I can repair it?
Technical Support:
I'm sorry, we don't have schematics to send out for inverter repairs.
Val:
I am also sorry, I am a consulting engr. who will no longer recommend your products !
Technical Support:
Thanks for using Sceptre Technical Support's Live Chat. Have a wonderful day.
Technical Support has left the conversation. Currently in room: Val.

Thanks for the help. It worked for me.
I replaced all four and the monitor works fine again.
2 are 470uf 25v and 2 are 1200uf 10v.
I ordered mine for about $10 with shipping from Mouser.com
