What is causing a very very dim picture on an LED Tv?

Depends on the model. Have you checked the backlight, (LED in this set perhaps).

as long as they from the same screen number as the fittings can be a different shape. some are 2 line some are 4 line but only work on 2 or 3 as dim and bright controlled by the picture inputs.

I don't have a service manual for your set but I believe the LED driver is part of the power board, did you test the voltage going to the LED panel?
