Xerox C2424 with error code 07,010.43.3611. What should I do
One of 2 things. Most of the time, the print head block becomes contaminated with ink from the machine not sitting level. Some seeps out of the print head or the cleaning tray.
The other possibility is if the machine was powered down improperly the print head wiper blade is tacked to the print head.
Either way the fault is caused by the print head not bein able to move side to side or front ot back properly.Soooooo how do you get to it.
First remove the power, the on the right side of the machine where the power cord plugs in, 1 remove the power cord, then remove the document feeder/scanner cable. Loosten the 2 thumb screws on the molex connector and remove that plug, it is mounted vertically so when you go to reattach it, it can be a pain and the lower screw is sometimes difficult to get tight, so use a screwdriver to get it snug.
Go to the back of the machine and there are 2 metal tabs that hold the scanner document feeder in place. Slide the assemnbly back as you release those tabs, remove the scanner/feeder assembly and set it aside. To get to the block you will have to remove the side covers only, that is one screw each on the upper back of the covers, right where you slid the scan/feed assembly off. You will think there are more screws to remove, but there are not. What you do is go to the side of the machine and lift up and out on the cover, you have to lift up on the very top edge of the covers to pop the tabs off the frame, NOTE the front cover will also pop off, that is what holds those 2 covers in place on the front of the machine.
Once you get the covers off, Looking from the FRONT now, go to the left side of the machine, You will see about 2/3rd of the way back on the lower portion of the frame a 1 in x 1 in stainless steel block with a 1/2 inch or so shaft running through it. Ther is a spring assembly over it, that just pulls out and up to the left and clips on there for removal of the block. Please rememeber to put that spring assembly back in place when reassembling. My thoughts are that when you look in that block, you will see a lot of yellow ink built up in it, You may have to pick at some of the built up ink to get to the print block and most likely it will be very tight,and will require the use of some channel locking pliers to remove the block. Take your time, twist in a clockwise then counterclockwise motion to losten the block and pull itout toward you. Soak it in hot water to losten the ink and clean it until all the ink is removed. Also clean the print head shaft as best you can and remove any residual ink in the machine. If that indeed is the problem, once that is cleaned well and the block is loose around the shaft you can reassamble the machind and return it to service.
Now if the wiper is tacked to the print head, you will then have to remove the ink loader. That is where you put the ink sticks. To do that, you remove the small white cover that runs across the upper back length og the machine, it has 2 screws holding it in, and also the metal bracket under it comes off. To remove the ink loader, there are plastic tabs on the right and left sides to release to lift it up, then disconnect the 2 connectors to the ink loader and remove it. Once you do that, you have acess to the print head drum area. Look between the print head and the drum, there is a pinkish color blade that would be stuck to eht print head. Gently release it from the print head and reassamble. Then one you do that, run the remove light streaks and remove smears modes on the machine.
One of those 2 items is most likely your problem. In order the print block is the problem about 75 percent of the time, the blade tacking about 15 percent of the time and the other 10 percent is the wiper clutch.
