Have you cleaned the spark plug , replaced it, or the carberation system?
If not, then this could be the problem.
Plug builds up corrosion over a period of time and cleaning is requird. also resetting the gap.
GAs goes stale too to flush out the old gas and put new gas.

My troy built starts but will not speed up enough to use even after it warms up. It is 2 years old but only has 3-4 hours of use on it . Can you help me?

Is it 2 cycle or 4 cycle? Meaning, does it take plain gas, or mixed gas?

Clean the plug, clean the carb with either choke cleaner (4 cycle) or wd-40 (2 cycle) by spraying it into the choke hole after you take off the air filter.

You may also want to spray some of the choke cleaner or wd-40 into the gas tank with the gas to help clean out the whole fuel system.

Only use choke cleaner for 4-cycle regular gas units. For mixed gas, use wd-40 in place of choke cleaner.

Try to start it and then go back and forth from half choke to full choke until it starts picking up.

Ive got a troy-bilt gas trimmer tb25cs it has always ran perfect, until now when i start it up aqnd give it gas it stops running and leaks gas

Check and clean your spark arrestor located behind a diverter plate on outside of muffler. You'll need a #25 Torx, or one slot screwdriver and wrench to take the plate off. Clean it with carb cleaner and wire brush and re-install. If this screen gets clogged, it could lead to fuel spray coming out of carb throat. Clean and re-oil the sponge filter while you're at it. Hope it helps!

Troy Bilt string trimmer starts but dies when I try to give it gas to trim.

Try mixing up some fresh gas mixture if it is over 30 days old it is considered bad gas. Or the carburetor may need to be rebuilt.

Troy-bilt TBP6040 4-cycle stalls out after about 10 minutes. Started doing this the 2nd time I used it. After it stalls out it will not start until it completely cools off. Fresh fuel in it. Arrestor...

I have the same model from Troy-Bilt. I have only had it about 4 or 5 months. Mine has started using a LOT of oil. I noticed a significant increase in temperature compared to my old Husqvarna 2 cycle. Mine does not completely stall, but it does start to sputter when it gets hot. I am going to take mine back to Lowe's where I bought it. So far I am VERY unhappy with the TBP6040.

Troy-Bilt Trimmer won't start

try taking the carb off and you should find 2 adjustment screws on it. turn those in until they stop, do not force tight. while doing this be sure to keep and eye on how far you turn them in. they likely wiil be set at 1 1/2 turns. now that you have done this unsrew them all the way out and get some carb cleaner to spray in there and rinse any old or dried up gas out. then replace the screws at the same setting they were before you took them out. this should take care of it.
