BTW thanks for the advice below I followed it and hopefully I will be able to salvage this camcorder even though I already bought a new one. maybe if this works out my teenager will get this one

I called JVC and likely will fix for free I just have to ship to a local service center

Apparently this same problem exists on many different models. I have a JVC grd72u. I called JVC @ 800-252-5722. I selected the "Corrective Action Program" prompt from the automated attendent. I spoke to a customer service rep. They are aware of the problem and are fixing it for free, but only until 12/31/07. I suggest you call ASAP and get your name in the computer. If the problem is something besides the CCD sensor, they will call you with the estimate to repair.

You have not given enough information. Are you trying to see
recorded photos or expecting to see the image from the lens?
You normally have an option to either use the view finder OR the
LCD display. It usually defaults to the view finder and you must activate the LCD with a button.

No image through view finder or lcd monitor
try removeing the battery and then trying again,

The device might need a reset

but it sounds like a hardware side problem witch would need to get repaired.

if you still have warranty then that should save you.

The problem i m having with my camcorder is when i want to record film screen goes blank but i can watch my previous recorded videos
Look in the view finder when recording instead of the screen. if you see the image there then the unit is probably set to look through there. Many of the new units dont' have a full view finder to lens item they actually have a small lcd screen inside the view finder. Check your options for recording.

Also if the view finder is tilted you need to close that before usign the lcd.

The image will not appear simultaneously on the LCD

monitor and the viewfinder. It will appear in the

viewfinder when the LCD monitor is in the lock position,

and it will appear on the LCD monitor when fully
extended.

When i look through the top view finder or lcd screen, on record and playback, all i get is a black view with some faint wavey lines in the view, every thing else works ok. Any suggestions gratefully...
Could be your CCD need to change. This is common problem to almost all camera manufacturer. Hope it helps

i think the settings on the exposure or apparture have been modified

reset the camera to factory defaults once to check this and you can have the photos back in order

You probably have the lens cap on, the iris dial closed, or you are in vcr mode rather than camera mode. You may also have the nd filter set to 1/64th, this is only for bright sunlight. When shooting indoors with low light, set the nd filter to off and hit the iris button until iris manual appears on the lcd, then dial the iris dial in front of the iris button up or down to bring the iris to around 5.6 f stop.

N70 FE E error in LCD and view finder - lens locked properly
Yes, the error is due to your lens not being set to highest F number. Solution : set lens to the highest number ( f 16 or f 22 ) and lock it in ( on the lens ). Your camera will work find now.

at the back of the camera next to the view finder (bottom right hand corner) is a button and icon marked SEL. pressing this button toggles the lens image from the view finder to the lcd screen and back again. IF neither view is available then I suspect your camera needs some TLC at a repair shop. hope this helps.
