Re: LCD and view finder not working. Stating lens cap is...

Apparently this same problem exists on many different models. I have a JVC grd72u. I called JVC @ 800-252-5722. I selected the "Corrective Action Program" prompt from the automated attendent. I spoke to a customer service rep. They are aware of the problem and are fixing it for free, but only until 12/31/07. I suggest you call ASAP and get your name in the computer. If the problem is something besides the CCD sensor, they will call you with the estimate to repair.

When in video recording mode LCD screen and viewfinder are black when the lens cap is off.

It could one of a few problems:

1. The viewfinder is pulled out and "PRIORITY" is set to "FINDER".

Push the viewfinder back in or set "PRIORITY" to "LCD".

2. The LCD monitor's brightness setting is too dark.

Adjust the brightness of the LCD monitor.

3. If the monitor is tilted upward 180 degrees, open the monitor fully.

No image through view finder or lcd monitor

try removeing the battery and then trying again,

The device might need a reset

but it sounds like a hardware side problem witch would need to get repaired.

if you still have warranty then that should save you.
if you dont have warranty id recommend you contact your dealer, or a local professional, there is a repair service finder in the front page of fixya under the top experts.

The problem i m having with my camcorder is when i want to record film screen goes blank but i can watch my previous recorded videos

Look in the view finder when recording instead of the screen. if you see the image there then the unit is probably set to look through there. Many of the new units dont' have a full view finder to lens item they actually have a small lcd screen inside the view finder. Check your options for recording.

Also if the view finder is tilted you need to close that before usign the lcd.

The image will not appear simultaneously on the LCD

monitor and the viewfinder. It will appear in the

viewfinder when the LCD monitor is in the lock position,

and it will appear on the LCD monitor when fully

Dvx100a showing black screens on lcd screen and view finder

You probably have the lens cap on, the iris dial closed, or you are in vcr mode rather than camera mode. You may also have the nd filter set to 1/64th, this is only for bright sunlight. When shooting indoors with low light, set the nd filter to off and hit the iris button until iris manual appears on the lcd, then dial the iris dial in front of the iris button up or down to bring the iris to around 5.6 f stop.

My lcd and view finder are unable to show subject

The problem you are having is called a "stuck iris" Inside the lens are two thin plastic sheets that slide over one another that limit the amount of light that comes into the lens. In some Sony camcorders, the motor or "actuator" that drives the iris, or moves the two sheets which are the iris opened and closed. The actuators sometimes leak oil onto the plastic sheets causing them to stick, so the light coming into the lens is stuck at one level. Some technicians will recommend lens replacement (expensive) but many times the iris assembly can be removed from the lens and cleaned. Try to find a service shop that will clean the iris rather than replacing the lens.
