Starter solenoid may be going bad, Starter button contacts could be dirty or have corrosion.

Does it do this in all setting on the dial, normal,heavy ,delicate?

no you need to replace the hole thing whach is called Console W/membrane Pad part number 31001658

The reason it doesn't work in the menu is because it doesn't use the D-pad (the plus-shaped button that you use to move around). To go through the menu options, you need to press the Select button (that's the left of the two small buttons in the center of the controller). Many games use that to select menu options instead of the D-pad.

Try swapping the power button connection with the reset button connection. Then to turn on your computer you will need to press the reset button. If that works you have a faulty power button. Otherwise try using a different PSU. One that you know works. If that doesn't help the motherboard will have to be replaced.

You said when if the game starts the controller goes off.try holding the sync button on the wii console for 15-20 seconds then resync all controllers.If it doesn't work try this:Start the donkey kong game then press the home button then go to the wii remote settings it has an icon of a remote then after you enter it find the reconnect then press 1-2 simultaneously to select who is the first player.If it doesn't work try resynchronizing it as the first controller.Hope this helps.
