I have my brand new frigidaire window ac unit set at 60 degrees Fahrenheit, so why does it only cool and keep the room at 65 to 68 degrees Fahrenheit?

if you have it set at 60 F and it is working at 65 to 68 F then that would be about right
as the air is cooled the cold air falls to the floor and out under the door, open window or anywhere else it can escape
the unit has to be at 80% room height so if it is set in a window then when the cold air gets up to the thermostat or ac level in the window then it will stop cooling
So if the ac unit is say 4ft from the floor and the ceiling height is 8 ft then the ac will only cool the bottom 4 ft
cold air does not rise but falls down
if you are using a ceiling fan then the cold air is stirred up and the 65F sounds about right
remember that the setting temp ( what you set it at) is the lowest temp that it will go down to before it stops cooling and if that is not reached it will keep working to attain that temp and if the room is too big, air leaks under door . around the fit in the window , no insulated walls , hot exterior wall, etc then maybe 65 F is the best you will get

Why can't I lower my honeywell 8500 below 67 on cool?

With a two story house you have to be aware that cold air flows downwards so any cold air coming from an ac unit will flow downstairs( normally down the stairway) so unless you can close off the down stairs then the up stairs unit will be cooling downstairs as well. Ac units have a thermostat located in the air intake and it cools until the cold air has risen to that point. In effect the space above the ac unit will be hotter than the floor. Knowing how they work ,you can see that the upstairs unit will never reach the set temperature because the cold air is continually heating from the house and will never get to the top thermostat.
So your solutions are
1-- fit controls that restrict the cold air from leaving the upper floor (Doors)
2--don't run the upper ac unit unless you are living up there (waste of money
)3 place an ac in each upper room and keep the room door closed

My 1 ton onida ac is not giving cooling any more, the capacitor, gas pressure are ok, then too, but their is no relay in it, how is it, what's can be the problem, please suggest what to do,

ok number 1 most of ac units have its relay in the electronic board in the evaporative unit other have a contactor in the outer or condenser unit 2 if the capacitor and the pressure are good that means that the compressor is working, make sure the evaporator turbine is turning fast enouhg and is not build up in dirt if the turbine is running slow this makes the pressure go hi and trips the compressor relay or just wont blow air enouhg for you to feel it

2004 Toyota tacoma Pre runner 4 door AC works fine blows cold, No heat ? have checked radiator and thermostat as well as heater core have hot coolant running through entire system but still no heat not on...

You have a problem wit the air temperature control blend or the blend door actuator motor, most times both are defective. The parts are located deep in the dash and as such the dash assembly must be removed to service the parts.

The ac is not working properly. It goes from cold air, to hot air. I charged the ac with R134 coolant, but is not helping. What is the problem?

If your unit is cooling and heating ok make sure the mode your on is not an automatic mode as this makes the unit change between heating and cooling to maintain set temp select either cooling only mode or heating only mode this means once set temp is reached unit will stop until it notices a rise or drop in temp and will come on again in your set mode

My attic air conditioner will stay at 81 degrees in the hottest part of the day only when it is sunny when it is cloudy it works fine I have a small 900 sq foot ranch

if the difference in termperature is between 15 and 20 degrees between the inlet and outlet, the unit is doing all it can and is undersized. if not check for airflow problems, filters, dirty coils etc. and if that is all good, then there may be issues with the refrigerant charge

My LWHD1200FR AC Unit is not cooling during the

The unit may not be big enough. From the model number I am thinking you a/c is a 12000 btu. Which is usally enough for a large room. However if you have an open floor plan or a really large room you may need a bigger or second unit.

Level one working but not level two

Check to see if unit is running outside. Could be iced up. Float switch tripped means stopped up drain. Float switch located under unit or in front. Does your fan work on on positio. As a service tech he first thing we check is power to the trnasformer but unless you know what your doing you will do more damage. Check float switch and then call a service tech. Rusty
