the units red led comes on, there is a three second period when the screen lights up, then power supply emits a high pitch sqeal (not very loud) and the screen dies and the red power led blinks twice and goes out.

The unit is marked "arrow LCDTV30A"

  • craquer69 Jul 12, 2009

the unit is a flat screen 30" LCD TV not a rear projection

  • craquer69 Jul 12, 2009

ALL caps in the p/s have been changed i was thinking inverter but can not get any documentation on arrow LCDT30A

  • craquer69 Jul 12, 2009

This IS NOT a projection tv it is a flat screen LCD.
It has no lamp save for a cold cathode tube.
ALL the caps in p/s have been replaced.

  • craquer69 Jul 12, 2009

i replaced the caps i am a technician with thirty years of experience in fixing tv's.
These units were made by a chinese company and were branded arrow or prima.
I have repaired dozens of these tv's before with power supply cap's but this one is not responding to the common faults

The tv is probably pulling too much power and so shuts off. Does it have picture and audio before turning off? Are there any blinking lights or anything after it turns off? Unless I get a blinking code or anything, a person with electrical experience is going to have to narrow down the problem since the tv shuts off to protect itself. Could be the power supply or a number of other things. One quick thing to try is to plug the tv into a surge protector or if it is in one, plug it directly into the wall and see if that changes the time it takes to turn back off.

When I turn on my Sony TV, ti stays on about 30 seconds then shuts off, What do you think is wrong?

Do a Power Reset.
1. Turn off TV.
2. Unplug the power cord of the TV from the electrical outlet.
3. Let the TV remain without power for 60 seconds.
4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. (If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.)
5. Turn on the TV.
If issue persists after doing the steps, reset the TV to factory default settings.
1. Turn on the TV.
2. Using the supplied remote, press and hold the UP arrow button.
3. While holding the UP arrow button press the POWER button on the TV itself.
4. When the TV goes off, release the POWER and UP arrow button.
5. The TV will turn on by itself and the initial setup screen will be displayed. Just follow the on-screen prompts to finish the setup.

I have a 42 inch plasma.....Prima TV

Try the following if this doesn't help you will need to get someone to look at it.
Plug the TV directly into the wall, turn off the power and any other power buttons or switches your TV may have. Now hold the standby button on your TV in for about 30 seconds. Once you have done that turn all power back on and see if this makes any difference. I hope this helps unfortunately this trick only works about 30-40% of the time.

please check the connectors of power supply board, and reset all connectors.
if you have digital or analog tester, try to read the output voltage of the power supply

I want to unlock child code of my prima tv lcd 28 inch plz tell me code

You should have its original remote control to open the lock. To open the lock do the following.
Philips sets use a four digit code to control the v-chip. The override code for Philip sets is 0711, although it may say "Incorrect code" the first time to trick you. If "Incorrect code" is displayed, simply enter 0711 again. To use it hit the MENU key to get to the menus. Go up or down until you reach AUTOLOCK or SMARTLOCK, depending on the model, and push the "right arrow" key on the remote. Enter the override code, and enter it a second time if it says it is incorrect.
Once in the AUTOLOCK or SMARTLOCK menu, go to BLOCK, and push the "right arrow" key. Go to BLOCKING OPTIONS and press the "right arrow" key. Go to MASTER DISABLE and press the "right arrow" key so that it says "MASTER DISABLE ON". The v-chip is now reset.

32 inch prima lcd tv model lc-32u16 that won't turn on

You probably have some defective filter capacitors in the power supply. The tops of them may be domed instead of flat. Be sure to replace them with same values listed on the originals - slightly higher voltage rating is OK, but no less! Make sure they are rated at 105 degrees C and not 85 degrees.

Flickers off on when turning on tv

Sounds like you have some capacitors that are leaking on your power supply. If so, each time it will take longer and longer for your tv to come on. A local shop should be able to replace them for around 100 bucks.

14 month old Prima 36 inch lcd tv takes 2+ hours before on.

If you purchased the warrenty extra above the cost of the tv Sears will allow you to purchase another extended warrenty. Contact them and let them know your extended warrenty ran out and you would like to buy another. I would leave out the part about the tv being broken.
