Warning before you do this make sure u back up your stuff cuz if ur not experienced it might do more damage than good.
click start
then run
then msconfig
this will bring up the menus that deal with how ur computer starts up....im going to assume that u have vista seeing as the model is fairly new so its also going to ask for u to press okay since its annoying that way .

click the start up tab and then go down the list to see what u can disable

my advice is disable anything with aol, itunes, limewire*torrent programs* and other programs that are not really useful...however doant disable explorer, defender or anything that has to do with your antivirus since these are needed for your own protection then click okay and restart and you should see a change.

one more thing if its getting to be too slow consider a memory up grade

How to clean up start up processes

Questions about optimize start up:
How to remove program from start up?
My computer boots very slow? How do I clean up start up processes?
Windows startup very slow, how to fix it?

Why clean up start up processes?
Windows Startup program will load the default programs or processes you add to your computer. The test result shows a new system only boot within 30 seconds. As you install antivirus program or other applications, it becomes very slow. Sometimes, the startup gets bloated not due to your computer behaviors. Malicious software is prone to add useless processes on startup without your known. You are not aware that your computer becomes more and more slow until serious computer problem occurs. Don’t ignore a slow start up, it is the root of Blue Screen and computer freezing.

How to clean up start up processes?
The first thing you should do is to remove spyware or adware from your computer. I prefer to AVG, it is a free anti-virus program. If you want to clean virus completely, you need boot in safe mode and disconnect your Internet.

Hok is a professor with over ten year’s computer experience. He suggest us use ErrorFix. This is a pc optimize tool which can clean up system registry entries, useless program, start up processes and junk files. With this program, your computer will be obviously improved. Just a few clicks, you can remove processes that slow your computer.

What’s more to speed up your computer?
Do not download Peer-to-Peer Download Software! Maybe you are using some software such like YouTube Downloader. These are probably some of the least likely contenders for system-slowdown but they are popular on the internet. Those kinds of program can take up memory space and damage your computer. Also they can automatically add itself as your start up.

Computer freezes when trying to access My Computer in any program

Could be a program running in background. Try to go to msconfig ( click on start, run, and type msconfig). On the startup items, disable all and reboot. See if the performance improves. If it does, enable startup program on msconfig one by one and reboot. to check what startup item is causing the slow performance. If it does not improve, might be an unnecessary driver for the system. Reinstall windows xp.

My laptop is extremly slow and it won't hold a charge longer than 15 minutes, it's a 3 year old toshiba. What can i do?

Obviously, your battery has degraded. You will have to purchase a new battery. And you can remove old programs that you dont use any more to free up space. Defragment the Hard disk to improve performance. Remove unwanted programs from startup. This will improve the speed of your PC

My laptop is slow runnin the green light is workin overtime and i havs norton security on it but its still runnin slow plz help

There are MANY things yo ucan do to improve the speed of your laptop. For starters, get rid of Norton. That is a notoriously slow AV program. Instead, try something leaner, such as AVG free. It won't hog as many resouces and, well, it's free.

Then, try these two programs to remove unnecessary programs (bloatware) and files. If ever prompted to backup something, do it just in case. Both of these are free as well.

Then, go to Start | Run and type 'msconfig' without the quotes and hit enter. Select the Startup tab and deselect any and all startup options that are not necessary. All of these things run when your computer is booted, so disabling them will speed it up for sure. If yo uare not sure whether or not somethign should be disabled, Google it. Even if you disable something, and things don't look right, you can always re-enable it.

Finally, the best thing you can do to speed up your PC is increase the RAM. Nowadays, less than 2GB of RAM won't handle very much. You can purchase this offline if you know what you need, or take your PC to your local computer parts store and ask for the necessary RAM.

Hope this helps.

Inpiron 1501 keyboard working slow

Does the issue occur in Safe Mode (Press F8 at boot, select safe mode) If not then a program is likely conflicting, run a virus and spyware scan. If the issue does occur in safe mode, try adjusting keyboard settings in COntrol panel

Slow start up

Slow startup is caused by programs that initialize during startup. THings like MSN messenger, any VPN software, or just about anything that runs in your system tray (down by the clock)  try removing things from your startup folder and setting programs not to start when windows starts.

You can also shut down these programs from the run menu by running the msconfig command...but I suggest you research what you're turning off before you try that...as you could disable wanted processes,

Hope this helps.
