Some dryers have more than one heating elliment..

A way to check is -- take the exaust hose off.. Put a mirror so you can see into the hole & hopefully see the heating elliment(s).. When running they should glow like a stove burner..
If it is not gloing its not working & needs to be replaced..

I suspect that one may have went out..

I hope this helps !!
Please rate me good ;o)

The model number you submitted is not valid. Long dry times and dryer not shutting off is either an element problem, an air flow problem. Lets begin with a good model number so we can see your unit as you do...

Hours to dry. I have a GE Profile Wizard model DPSE592EA2WW electric dryer that barely gets warm and takes hours to dry a single load.

as i do not have diagram of your dryer i can only guess for you,(i am not an expert.) The element is usually in the back of the drum (at air intake). Air is blown in, heated, then goes out the opposite side where it is vented.does it heat any better at another temp setting, say MED. opposed to HIGH? This may help temporarily. Replacing element isn't hard if you are mechanically "handy", but you may first want to consider the the age of the dryer, cost of a new part, and your time. Often a used dryer is a worthwhile alternative. To replace:Remove screws to remove back panel. The heating element should look something like a flat hair dryer (basically that's what it is).If your lucky your part will come with instructions, but this would be the exception. The unit should slide or clip to plug in and out. Screws aren't usually used in this application.IF YOU HAVE A MULTITESTER, AND THE KNOW HOW, YOU CAN CHECK FOR CONTINUITY AND RESISTANCE THROUGH THE TEMP SWITCH. This will give you an idea if the element is your problem. It should be one of the two. Hope I've helped.

Ge Profile Gas dryer - It takes 2 hour for a load of towels to dry - iis that normal?

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have not taken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then you need to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should take place. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causes for your dryer to fail.

My ge dryer takes 5hrs to dry a load of clothes, it seems hot enough inside when i open it but the clothes used to dry in 90mins or so now its hours

Have you checked your lint filter? Do you empty your lint filter after every load? If it is hot inside the dryer then the most likely suspect is a clogged exhaust vent. Check the lint filter, if it is clean pull the dryer out from the wall and disconnect the exhaust hose. You may have to clear out the exhaust hose...compressed air usually does the trick. After you have done this, put everything back together and your problem should be gone.

GE Harmony electric dryer model DPGT750EC1PL- very little heat - small rattle - takes hours to dry load of laundry... any ideas?

Check the following to address this issue.

Note: Normal drying time for a dryer is about 45 minutes (some may take up to an hour).

1. Venting
Make sure the dryer vent hose, as well as the rest of the vent duct, is not clogged.

Unless regular maintenance is performed, chances are there is a lot of lint accumulated inside the dryer. This might affect the drying time and could be a fire hazard. Make sure to have your dryer cleaned regularly. Because this might involve taking most of the dryer apart, it is recommended to have a qualified appliance repairman perform this task.

2. Thermostat
There are a couple of cycling thermostats inside the dryer. If one of them breaks down, it might affect the dryer's performance. Replace the defective thermostat.

3. Heating element
A heating element might only be partially burned out, in which case it would still work but will take longer time to dry the clothes. Replace the element if found defective.

Dryer taking too long to dry clothes

Hello :)

Very common problem. You need to call a
duct cleaning company and tell them to clean
your dryer vent. Rule-of-thumb: dryer vents
should be cleaned every couple of years to
prevent them from being clogged with lint and
causing lint fires. This is definitely your problem.
Good luck :)

p.s. one way to verify a clogged vent is
to go outside where the vent exits the house
and feel the air-flow. should have adequate air-flow.

Taking long time to dry

An innovative dryer, the General Electric Profile Harmony DPGT750GCW(gas) / DPGT750ECW (electric) has the ability to communicate with its matching washer via the manufacturer's CleanSpeak system. More specifically, this Profile dryer is wired to the Harmony washer, allowing electronic communication between the two. If you're wondering what these two have to talk about, the answer is simple. They talk about your laundry and how to dry it.

CleanSpeak works by transferring information about a wash load to the dryer and setting it automatically so you don't have to make any. Machine-determined optimal settings for each load are selected by the information about each load size and type. Your job is simply to place the wet laundry in the dryer and press start.

That is where the problem begins, when you interrupt the drying cycle. The machine is then rest to small load dependent on when the interruption occurred. The dryer computes the duration of drying time again the wash load. Each time you load the washer, the dryer is computed to using the shorted time. Thus, we have double cycle.

you will need to override the automated settings and enter your own preferences. Doing so can be a bit complicated, as this machine has lots of intricate, detailed controls that may take some getting used to. In fact, we suspect that's why this dryer is designed to be set by the washer. Having individuals set it, with all its options, takes some patience. The good news is that once you have manually set cycles you have found to use often or like, you can enter them in the memory, allowing the machines to set them your way in the future.

Option is to unplug the machine and wait minimum of 2 minutes and plug in the machine, hit power on.
I would recommend unplugging both machines, and rest both to factory default.
good luck
