The proper temperature should be between 35 and 42 degrees. Here are some things to try:

  • If your refrigerator temperature is closer to 35 degrees, try turning the temperature up slightly.

  • If you find that the temperature varies a lot from the top shelf to the bottom (where it is coldest), try putting produce and other sensitive products on a higher shelf.

  • If the temperature is too low and you can't make it warmer by adjusting the thermostat, you probably have a defective thermostat. If so, you need to replace it, because they cannot be repaired. Other possible problems are a leak in the sealed (refrigerant) system, cold air migration (in side-by-side models) or a defective air damper. These problems can be quite difficult to locate and correct, we recommend you contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

Here are some of the useful steps to make a milk free ice cream.
1.) Microwave the chocolate and butter-substitute for thirty seconds in a microwave-safe bowl.
2.) Add a dash of salt, and a splash of vanilla extract to taste.
3.) Put a scoop of marshmallow fluff into the bowl and stir it in thoroughly.
4.) Remove the spoon, lick it clean, and wait up to 5 minutes for your mixture to become room temperature.
5.) Place it in the freezer for 50 minutes, remove, and if it is still not frozen well, then stir it thoroughly and place it back in the freezer for another 20 minutes.

Need more information, but try turning the fridge to normal and the freezer the same. Try placing those items in another location. Problem could be a bad air damper.

Milk freezing


I know many large family's that have been freezing milk for years,
it looks a bit strange as it defrosts but this is only due to the cream separating during the freezing process some of the family's will purchase a dozen two liter bottles or more at a time then freeze most of them for later use. I have even seen it where the wife will buy a dozen two liter bottles then the husband gets home and will pull another dozen out of his car and even then I have never know any milk to go to waste in the households, that is of course unless a careless act results in a spill however even then the family dog would get to do the cleanup and with pleasure.the trick is to remember to take the frozen milk out early in the afternoon the day prior to it being required as most times in large households the morning is a busy time and milk gets used for breakfast cereals, glasses of milk coffees etc. another thing is to ensure the milk is given a real good shake so as to mix the butter fats properly with the rest of the fluid. I would not hesitate to do it in my household if I had a larger family. However I am a single guy but have on occasion bought milk forgetting that I had already bought milk prior so have frozen it myself. besides which a thick shake is just that frozen milk. Hope this has been of some help??

Although this question is not really suited to FixYa, the answer is that when you thaw it the fat in the milk will separate and float to the top. It's really a quality issue rather than any health problems. You will not get sick by consuming it.

Freezability in regard to milk depends upon the fat content and how it's been homogenised within the milk, and these factors vary even within products within the same milk brand. In general, skimmed and semi-skimmed freeze best.
