Question about Pro-Fit Pro.Fit Dg 71 01 Dodge Dakota Pickup/Durango 01 Up

Truck starts and runs fine cold. If I start it when it's warm, it chokes out and stalls. Same happens sometimes when I come up to a red light and hit the clutch, and often in 4 wheel drive when I hit the clutch. Any ideas?

My 1999 Dodge Dakota 3.9L Automatic does this also. First start up of the day it`s fine.. but once you have to turn it off and start it up again i will choke and attempt to stall. I am having to Floor my gas pedal simply to stop it from cutting out on me.

Check the automatic choke, or the distributor vacuum advance for a possible leak.

In cold weather, my car is slow to start and has stalled a few times. What should I check?

You don't say what make of car but it's about the same for all. Your problem is the choke adjustment. The choke raises the idle when the car is cold and after warm up drops to normal. You are doing the chokes job when you hold the pedal down, once its warmed up the choke no longer functions till cold again. So check the choke and the high idle speed adjustment. Simple fix. Hope this helps mike

F150 stalls

I'm assuming the truck runs ok once it is warmed up. Sounds like you need to make some adjustments. The cold idle speed is set too high, and the choke is opening too fast. The cold idle should be around 1500 rpm and the choke should take at least 90 seconds to open depending on air temp.

Sounds like the carbs were not properly cleaned or set up. Choke should cause the cold start rpms to be higher than what you are experiencing. Application of choke to a warmed up engine will usually cause the engine to stall.

It starts but in choke and when i turn it to start it turns off

Try keeping it at half choke for long enough time to completely warm up. Once you have warmed it up, put it on "run". If it still dies out, get back to FIXYA. Good luck...Lee

DR 200 runs really cold. Takes about 15 minutes or so to warm up

It depends on the tempature, if its pretty chilly out yeah. Try easing the choke in slowly, and when it will idle at about half choke go aheand and take off but run the bike easy for a few minutes then close the choke.

Stalls when engne warms up

Your ECT (Engine Coolant Temp) sensor is bad. What's happening is at cold start it richens up the fuel mixture and as it warms up the ECM thinks it's still cold and essentially the "choke" is still on. Also check your coolant level. If you don't have enough coolant in you engine/radiator, the ECT doesn't know what to do so it thinks it's cold.
