Question about Akai PT4298HD Rear Projection Television
I have a Akai PT4298HD that is a few years old. Recently it is starting to show a yellow tint (on a light colored background or blue haze on a dark background) in the left section of the screen where the mute is displayed on the screen when the tv is muted.
If this was a CRT I would have thought it was a burn in area on the screen. I didn't think this could happen with a rear projection tv? Any way to figure out what is causing it or how to fix it?
OK YOU CANT 'BURN' A REAR PROJECTION BUT THE CONVERGANCE CAN BE GOING OUT BUT I WOULD GUESS THE SIGNAL TELLING THE PROCESSOR - OR THE PROCESSOR ITS SELF- IS PROBLY GOING OUT WHICH MEANS A BOARD NEEDS REPLACING I DONT KNOW WHICH ONE I WOULD GET A PRO TO CHECK IT AND TELL YOU WHICH ONE IT IS THEN ORDER IT ONLINE AND REPLACE IT YOURSELF

Uh, your tv *is* a CRT set. A rear-projection CRT set. But this isn't burn-in. It's either a dirty lens or some mold growing in the coolant. Better pray it's a dirty lens, otherwise you may as well just replace the set because the repair could be quite costly.
Lenses ought to be cleaned once a year.
