My Rockford fosgate p1 15 inch speakers played but got really loud and then stop playing

If the wires were touching then the amp overworked itself into a early grave..What happends when they touch is the amp goes from seeing a 4 ohm load to seeing a 0 ohm load. You can imagine why this would be bad for a amp...usually the amp should shut off to protect from damage and I would assume that Rockford would. Right now im having a similar problem..I suggest your call rockford and ask to talk to a technical advisor ( the name escapes me) and ask him what he thinks.

If the speaker is a 4 ohm DVC (two 4 ohm coils), you can't wire it to get a single 4 ohm load. Try connecting one coil to each of the two rear channels. It may not be as loud but the amp should operate without going into protection.
If the two 4 ohm coils are in parallel, the amp is driving a 2 ohm mono load. That's probably why it's shutting down.

change out the fan if cant find one specifically 4 that amp get a fan from a old amp or computer and use it there easy 2 switch out or even modify if it dont fit in the amp just mount it on the out side on the air fins the problem was probably caused by 2 small of a ground or in line fuse is 2 small check spec sheet or manual but the ground should b as short as posible and a bigger wire than the positive wire make shure your fuze in amp is the right size if 2 big it will over heat and fry the amp

send the rockford to landis technical-they bought up all the parts to rockfords amps and will get them back to factory specs and recertify it for ya along with a new power certificate-look on rockfords website and snoop around and it will break it on down for ya and give you the address n stuff. i had to send my 1501bd mono amp in to get an overhaul and it came back throwin 1810watts rms so that was better than when i started -good luck.
