Bobbin case in bernina 1630 jammed

Most likely, the thread has wrapped and twisted causing the bobbin case to hang up. If you can remove the needle plate, you may be able to access some of the thread and gently remove it with tweezers and small scissors. There are some great Yahoo Groups for Bernina machines. There is one in particular called "Bernina1630Devotees" where you can post questions and gather information from users. You will need a Yahoo email account, search for the group, request to be added as a member, and then post your questions.

Singer golden touch and sew model 630

This series of machines was nicknamed "touch and swear" and "sew and throw", as well as other, less polite, names, because the bobbin winding system is so touchy. Try a couple of new bobbins, and if that doesn't work, consult the nice folks at the yahoo group "wefixit": https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/wefixit/info Most of the time, though, a new bobbin fixes this particular issue.

The bobbin thread is not engaging with the top thread. I have changed the needle and cleaned the bobbin area. If the timing belt timing is not et correctly, is there a way for me to fix it or do I have...

Any sewing machine mechanic should be able to adjust the timing I would think.

There is information on adjusting timing on www.sewusa.com but I'd guess that it applies to mechanical machines.

Try this link http://www.sewusa.com/Sewing_Machine_Repair/Sewing%20Machine%20Hook%20Timing.htm and have a look at the different images, you'll need to look at the image for the rotary hook design you have (most Singers were vertical front loading).

Other possibility is to join one of the Yahoo groups for Singer owners and see if there is information available, sometimes they have files of repair info or members who share information. "Wefixit" or "Singer" is a couple of the groups but if you go to Yahoo, Groups, then type in "repair singer" there is several groups there.

You can obtain one of these from www.sewingpartsonline.com, not sure if you mean the cam stack gear or the hook pinon gear down under the rotary hook but both are available, liks are http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/cam-drive-gear-elna-416340.aspx

or http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/hook-drive-gear-elna-star-11-sewing-machine.aspx

If you want to install yourself you may want to join the Yahoo group Elna Heirlooms, they share lots of information there on these Swiss made Elnas.

I'm trying to date an old Cromwell DeLuxe Sewing Machine. Belonged to my husband's grandmother. Serial number: C57-35077. Can you help? I really need to place the age of this machine so that I can locate a...

Hi! I just love old sewing machines and am so glad to hear that you want to use it! (You don't really need to know the age to get started, BTW.) I did a quick search for Cromwell DeLuxe and came up negative--but all that means is that your machine was probably a badged machine. In other words, it was manufactured for a distributor (perhaps a local store) and the distributor put their name on it instead of the manufacturer's name.

Here are two great links to get you started:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vintagejapansewingmachines/

Many badged machines (and others) were built by Japanese companies (see if you machine has a JA- or JC- number on it) and this site has just loads of great information on these machines, plus lots of photographs.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sewingmachinerepair/

This group is dedicated to "keeping classic, mechanical sewing machines in use and dollars in your pocket" --which sounds like a great deal to me! They also have loads of information, including some generic manuals, photos, and great how-to tips.

Email me and let me know how it goes!

Was given a Necchi Mirella and need the belt to the motor. Part #? Leads to where I can find one.

Hi! You've got a great machine there! The folks that have them think those older Italian-made sewing machines are the best ever made. Here are a couple of places to look at for your belt: http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/necchi-sewing-machine-parts-model-list.aspx
http://www.sewingstyle.com/Necchi-Sewing-Machine-Parts.html
http://www.statewidesewing.com/#FAQ
If you need a manual, try http://www.sewingstyle.com/Necchi-Sewing-Manuals.html
There's a Yahoo users group dedicated to the Italian made Necchis--they have a lot of good information about how to care for your new baby so you might take a look.
Let me know if this helps, ok?
Happy Sewing!
