Dryer makes a screaching sound when turned on

Does it make the screeching sound continually after it is turned on or just when it is turned on and then the sound goes away? Knowing this will help in diagnosing the problem.

I have a Maytag Heavy Duty Quiet Series 200 Dryer, and when I turn the dryer on is makes a horrible screeching sound. Like metal grinding against metal. What do I do?

That's easy, first of all you must have the Dryer on flat floor I mean verticly right. And try not to put too many clothes to get dried.

My dryer is making loud screaching noises. Everytime I turn it on to dry clothes is makes very loud screaching noises.

Sounds like it needs what are called glides or felt. This is what keeps the metal drum from contacting the metal housing. If this is let go too long the drum can be ruined

your drum glides/rollers are defective on the front edge of dryer where the drum rests, sounds most like the glides are glazed, not roller bearings but check it could be either

Kenmore 90 plus series dryer won't work

Sounds like the belt has broken. You could probably also use new drum support rollers. Check out this site which shows how to change a dryer belt:

It's not a difficult job if you're comfortable working with hand tools.
