I have exactly the same problem. The battery is fully charged and I can see the green light that says the computer is on but no picture. What can I do!!!!!!!

I have the same problem with my T40. I replaced the system board and was able to get it to boot up for a while. Then the screen froze, and I had to turn it off with the power on/off button. This happened several times. I also had a display problem where the display froze with thin vertical lines. I now cannot boot up at all. Only get the power on led and battery led. Never starts the boot process. I think this is a pervasive problem with Thinkpad T40's.

Get to the mainboard
there is a jumper near the cmos battery usually shows the
word (jbat) near it , try to change its position for some
seconds while power is off , this way will clear cmos and set the
mainboard bios to default settings.
start the system hit delete or F2 to enter setup then exit saving changes.

I have repaired count less T40's with this issue, it's normally caused by a bad Ram chip, try pulling one of the sticks out (if you have 2) and powering on with just one, if that doesn't work try the same chip in the other ram slot, then try the other ram chip. I maybe a bad system board, but most of the time it's the ram.

Dell 1555 Studio laptop won't power up. After the power cord is plugged in, the LED light on the side blinks white once and orange four times. What could be causing it and how can it be remedi

have you tried a different power source or power supply ,maybe you can borrow one from a friend and try and if that don't work you might have to take it apart and see if your power cable is seated properly in the motherboard

No display when turned on

if you recently turn on the laptop but the screen doesn't show up not even a just a white screen then probably the power connection of the screen is broken, if just a white screen and no other display then you have a broken flex, a ribbon cable, other posibilities is that you might have a busted laptop. try removing the battery and plug directly to your power cable, long press the power button until you see led light turning on,. if your still not sure, you better bring it to a techinician, or to the store were you bought it if it still has the warranty.

My toshiba laptop won't turn on?

Does it beep at all? Does the power LED or other LEDs come on? What do you mean by "keeps turning blank"? Does the display come on with something and then goes blank?

Satellite P10 S429 with black screen after heatsink change

you must have accidentally touched some other parts, just open up the laptop again & look for some unusual things try connecting the wires again. it must be not a big problem. just some loose connections.

My Laptop doesnt start at all . I dont know what

1. remove all ext peripherals
2. remove battery
3. check first the ac adapter if it has led on (make sure ac adapter is not connected to the laptop)
4. try any other wall socket check if ac adapter will led stay on
5. if ac adapter stayed on then connect to laptop (without the batter)
6. after connecting the ac adapter to laptop check if the ac adapter led turned off, if yes then check ac adapter laptop pin on the side if is loose or damage.
7. if ac adapter stayed on after connecting to laptop press now the power button on the laptop just once. check if the power led on laptop will turn on (check if power led stays on or it blinks amber)
8. if it blinks amber then remove all CRUs such as dvd drive, memory, hard drive and wireless cards. put them back one at a time. make sure you turn off laptop when putting removed hardware. this will check and isolate which causing the power led to blink.
9. if the power led stays on then turn it off again then wait a couple of seconds then press and hold on Fn key then press power button. wait for about 5 minutes while the power led is steady on, until you hear beeps once you hear beeps it means that LCD has problems. try then connecting laptop to an external monitor if it shows display there. press on Fn + F8 to toggle the display from LCD laptop to the ext monitor. if no display replace the motherboard. if it has display replace LCD.

Gateway boot problem

This mostly happens when your motherboard is bad or one of the memory modules is bad.

The led light comming on indicates your power pack is ok but a component is failing to start especially when the laptop stops at the first screen stage where the manufacturer names appears.

The steps needed to solve this kind of problem would require technical skills and physical inspection.

If you still have a waranty period then seek a free service repair from an authorized or certified gateway service centre at the nearest centre closest to you.

If your warranty has expired, i still advise taking your Laptop to the closest Gateway service centre.

Won't startup

Try removing the battery and the AC adapter from the laptop and press the power button a few times. This should drain any remaining power from the laptop. Now plug in the AC adapter and try turning it on.

Let me know what happens,
