Fix samsung lcd screen not turning on. Sound works.

You have a an intermittent anomaly - nasty situation to fix for obvious reasons. You can live with it and wait till sucker finally goes for good.

Your problem lies with no backlighting (inverter board) or the T con board responsible for the images you see on the screen.

You are on the right track because caps and resistors can have dual personalities - both are also heat sensitive. Solid state devices either work or do not work - period.

Or you might have a hair line crack on a board. Using a small directional fan and giving the respective board the mother of all blow jobs you can perhaps localize the heat issue. Good luck.

Sony vaio vgn-fz21e upgrade solid state drive

If you are looking to upgrade to a solid state drive, or already have a solid state drive and just want to upgrade the size, you will have to purchase the new drive, when you receive the drive you will have to turn the notebook over and there should be a rectangular panel underneath about 5"x3" inches which can be removed by a small Philips head screw driver, remove the panel, carefully remove the hard drive installed, and install your new drive. Put all the parts back, and then you will have to do a clean install of an operating system on the new system. Good luck!

Hobart handler 140 mig welder gas wont shut off

Looking at the Hobart manuals, that is how they set them up at the factory.

One way to make a change to that is to wire in a solid state relay or solid state Triac and pick up an energizing voltage off of location RC2-1 or RC2-2 on the control board when the trigger is pressed, or as an alternate location from the feed motor through a resistor and rectifier. Once you know if the voltage goes low, or voltage goes high at your point of signal, you pick the contact you want on the relay so when the wire is feeding out, the gas is flowing. and when it is not feeding wire out, the gas is shut off.

Whirlpool GC5SHEXNS03 started making hissing sounds and could hear water draining into pan at bottom. Then noticed that neither freezer or 'frig are cooling and motor not turning on. I turned it off/on but...

Seems that perhaps your unit stopped in a defrost cycle. If this has a solid-state control board, it's probably the board that has failed. If it's the old style without a board read on.

All frost-free refrigerator-freezers with exception for the ones with solid-state control have a thing in the system called a Defrost Timer. The thing is a little clock of sorts that tracks accumulated running time. Every 8 hours of run time the thing cycles through a defrost cycle. The defrost cycle is necessitated by the humidity that forms ice crystals on the freezing coils, if the frost is not eradicated it can build up to the point where no air flows over the coils to chill the inside of the box. (it may keep the freezer cold but no air goes to the fridge part. If completely solid neither cools) Most timers are located on the front of the machine, behind that removable grille under the door. Sometimes it's found in the refrigerator behind a plastic cover. The timer has a round hollow shaft through it, and can be turned with a screwdriver (screwdriver should be 1/4 inch wide and should not fit inside shaft). In your case since the compressor is not running, give the shaft a slow twist until a click is heard and the compressor starts. If the compressor does not start you may have other problems. If it does then get a replacement timer.

Even if you don't attempt your own repair this is good to know. Also know that the defrost timer is not an expensive repair if you have to have some do it.

Hampton Bay Ponte Vecchio ceiling fan light flickers

Try swapping out the bulbs and see what happens. There are bulbs made specifically for ceiling fans that have heavier duty filaments in the bulbs, or you could use compact fluorescents. The warning about using a solid state control was referring to using a solid state dimmer at the wall switch.
