This is usually down to a lose fittning scart socket or AV cable. Try setting it up again to see if this helps!

If you are using the s-video jack to connect the DVD to the TV, the jack could be loose or the wire could be bad. The s-video cable has 2 signals, the black-and-white (luminance) and the color (chroma). If the chroma signal is not getting through, the picture will be in black and white.

SOURCE: dvd player not showing color

you are only having porblem with your color system. if you are using a multi system DVD player then see if it is properly selected to your region. in USA it should be NTSC 3.59, if you're in Europe it should be PAL. if you're using your DVD via a DSP or audio systems, check also the color system of the amplifier, it should be adjusted to your color system.

SOURCE: DVD Player won't play movies in color

It could be the av cables being faulty or shorted. Try replacing them with another set and see if it goes away.

SOURCE: how do i get my sons dvd player in color. it plays

Make sure the connection to the TV is correct. Yellow(video) jack from the DVD player will go to yellow jack of the TV, white to white(audioL) and red to red(audioR) for compsite audio/video connection. Red to red, green to green and blue to blue for component connection.

Our dvd player now only works showing movies in black and white. What can we do? It use in color but for some unknown reason the movies are in black and white.

Hello,

someone must have pressed something mistakenly.

Check the DVD remote and press PAL/NTSC. The color should appear.

Or you could also check the video wire at the back of the DVD and TV, maybe it has loosed contact.

I wish you all the best.

New lcd tv and dvd player is playing movies in black & white

1. Verify connections are color coded.

2. If they are correct, take out movie, press Play/Stop at same time on the front of the unit (not remote) to reset any settings that may have been changed.

DVD player in black and white

Ok I know I just made a comment but guess what... heres the solution!!!!!!! I was sooo mad that I went and started playing with the cables and got it working. You have to plug in white to white, yellow to green and red to blue on the back of the DVD player and match up the colors on the back of the tv. And it plays in color!! Hope this works for you too!
