What is the intermatic e 1020 used for just moved into a house andits in the bathroom and makes a lot of noise.

The E1020 timer is reliable heavy-duty 24-hour on-off analog timer with replaceable trippers and manual override, rated 12 amps.
This timer replaces ordinary single-pole on-off switch.
Timer has extra white wire that connects to white neutral wires inside box to run timer mechanism, while mechanical single-pole switch does not need this wire.
I don't know what it is doing... maybe running the vent fan periodically, or turning on attic vent fan?

For same timer, with less noise, install E1100-1200 aka the KM series in-wall analog timer. Or install digital in-wall timer, or replace timer with on-off switch.

I have a wall timer which activates a bathroom fan. It was switched on this morning and now it cannot be switched off. How do I switch it off. I do not know the model number

Timer probably needs to be reset, or possibly timer has gone bad or battery has gone bad.
More information is needed.

Let's identify timer, and then possible solution can be given based on that.
If you bought timer locally, what store did it come from?

I do not have an instruction manual for the Intermatic E1400WC timer switch and I can't figure out how to program the on/off times.

Intermatic makes heavy duty Ei400 series 1HP 120V or 240V countdown timer that can be wired for single-pole and 3-way.
Open following link to identify Ei400 timer and download manual:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Countdown-timer-horsepower-ratings.html#Ei

Coundownt timers are used to control fans and lights that need to run certain length of time, and then turn off. For example bathroom fan or whole house attic fan

I do have and Intermatic ET724 timer and it has stopped working. I don't think it works with battery as it is attached to our bathroom light switch . any luck to fix it? or it is time for a new one??

That's a good old timer.
Grasslin ET724 in-wall timer is no longer available.

There are several programmable timers on the market.
Intermatic EJ500 is simple to install and program. Works on battery but is for incandescent light only, not for fans.

GE 15071 from Home Deport is inexpensive replacement and works with fans, lights.
Needs no battery. Uses electric circuit to operate clock.

I have a wall-switch Intermatic Timer Model 885L that has become too stiff to turn itself off automatically. Can these be lubricated by WD-40 safely???? Or what is best fixit???

I am unable to identify Intermatic 885L

Add a comment with clear description of timer so I can identify and help.
With mechanical dial timers, once the motor begins to slow down, then motor overheats and burns out. This is true for all electric motors, and eventually all electric motors stop working.
Power pack yard-light transformers, in-wall timers and plug-in type timers are not repairable, even with WD40, because the motor has already overheated.
These timers are replaced with new timer.
However if you have a power pack, since this timers is expensive, you can buy cheap plug-in timer, set power pack to override, and then plug power pack into cheap timer.

With direct wire mechanical box-type timers that are used for parking lot lights and pool pumps, for example T100 series 120V and 240V timers, the clock motor is replaceable. These small motors cost $16 to 60 depending on clock.

Again, add a comment with clear description of timer so timer can be identified for certain.
I can also post the manual if available, and post links to sellers of similar/same timer if replacement if necessary.

I specialize in timers.
According to Intermatic, they no longer make the light switch timer.
I cannot find the instruction manual on Intermatic.

From my experience, I suspect that the timer is old and does not function any more.

How do you set this timer

http://www.intermatic.com/products/timers/in-wall%20timers/24-hour%20mechanical%20time%20switches.aspx

http://www.intermatic.com/~/media/files/intermatic/products/instructions/timers/e1020%20-%20english.ashx

Timer shown is E1020 or E1010
This timer wires into a wall box
Grasp time dial firmly and pull until it comes free from timer.
Remove all silver ON trippers and brass OFF tripper using pencil or paper clip

Program the timer by inserting trippers
The minimum set time for this timer is 1/2 hour
OFF trippers should be spaced at least 2 hours apart from another OFF
ON trippers should be spaced at least 2 hours apart from another ON

Push time dial back onto timer
Current time lines up with time line located at top of timer dial

Next to the time line is the manual override.
Use manual override to reverse the timer program, so if lights are OFF, manual override will turn them ON.
