Question about HP LaserJet 3055 All-In-One Printer

1 Answer

HP lasrJet 3055 had a problem of always enlarging, thought I'd fixed it by going into the Main Menu and inputting the size correction. Now, however, putting a page in the ADF => Document Loaded =>Push copy => Fit to page on flatbed only. How do I get it to use the ADF? Many thanks in advance.

I've had this printer for a couple of years and previously had no problem loading multiple pages into the ADF and until today it has handled them effortlessly. All copies were 1 page/sheet, never have used or input any other settings. Since your message, I loaded a couple of sheets into the ADF and then went into the menu to see if the ADF being loaded would make any difference. It didn't. Going through the menu, I accepted all the default options, which is what I initially started with years ago. So now I don't know what to do next, except maybe turn it off for a while.

I mentioned the enlargement problem because that problem came first, and I solved it. Then the ADF problem appeared. Up until now, I have never had any problems. I have always made 1 copy of everything, and only 1 page per sheet, never more. And the ADF has always taken 1 page or 30 pages without hesitation.

NOW however, putting in 1 or more pages into the ADF, the message says:

    Document Loaded

    I push the Copy button

    Message appears:

Fit to page on flatbed only

    and that is it.

I tried to follow your directions and I'm not sure what corrected it, but the ADF now accepts input. Now I can go eat dinner. I thank you verry much!

Hi there

It should work with the ADF too. When you go into the Reduction/enlargement settings, you'll see a setting called Fit To Page. This setting only works in the scanner, and not the ADF.

When using the 2 pages/sheet or 4 pages/sheet setting, copy from the automatic document
feeder only. Also, after selecting the 2 pages/sheet or 4 pages/sheet option, you must select
the page orientation (portrait or landscape).

If the above doesn't work, you may need to load the copy in first into the ADF, and then go into the Reduction/enlargement settings. Not sure what order it requires.

Now these are the settings available:

  • Original=100%
  • Lgl > Ltr=78%
  • Lgl > A4=83%
  • A4 > Ltr=94%
  • Ltr > A4=97%
  • Full Page=91%
  • Fit to page
  • 2 pages/sheet
  • 4 pages/sheet
  • Custom: 25-400%
What is unclear, is whether the ADF will allow you to make copies other than the 2 pages/sheet or 4 pages/sheet options.

If the other options don't work for the ADF but do for the scanner, that would mean your printer only allows the 2 pages/sheet or 4 pages/sheet option through the ADF, and the rest for the scanner.

Hope I have been of help.

Warmest regards

Sorry, your original question was referring to the enlargement of documents through the ADF. But are you also having a problem with the ADF taking in and copying documents in their normal size as well? Or only with the enlargement?

If you're simply having a problem of the ADF taking in multiple documents, does it take them in at all? Or does it take them in but not give any printouts.

Or, if you can use the ADF normally but want the sizes changes, I'm afraid it seems it only allows the 2 or 4 pages per sheet option.

Sorry, just wanted to add, the ADF should allow 1 page per sheet, or the 2 or 4 pages per sheet options.

If it isn't working with 1 page per sheet anymore, what exactly happens?

Thank you for clarifying, I see what has happened.

The option for resizing the page To Fit is set in the options, and this specific option works only with the scanner. You need to set it back to Original instead.

To do this, go to the printer's Menu, look for Reduction/enlargement settings (you may have to look for this, it may just be there, it may be in Copy or Scan options, or be called something similar). Once you find it, set the enlargement option to Original (or similar or 100%).

OK all of the settings and your ADF should work as normal again! :)

    Best regards

Display message reads - no paper pick up - nothing will print how can I clear it

Following is what HP Recommends:

Verify that the media was inserted far enough into the input tray. In tray 2 (HP LaserJet 3390/3392 all-in-one), verify that the paper-length guide is in the correct position for the media size that you are using.

Reload the media in the input tray and press c00597632.gif to continue the job.

If the error persists, contact HP Customer Care.

3055 sends to manual feed

Hi there
I've had a similar problem in windows instead of the mac, but it sounds like it's a
similar problem where the computer's telling the printer to use a
different sized paper to what the printer's been told is in the trays. For example, if, say, your document is set up for A4 sized paper, but the printer is set up to think it has Letter sized paper in the trays, it'll ask to have A4 sized paper installed in the tray instead.

Go into the system setup on the printer and select the paper setup menu.

Select Tray 1 and choose the right paper type and size from the settings (After you choose the paper type you have to go all the way back through the menus on the printer and choose the paper size as well)

Hope this helps!
