T600D -- door won't open, but functions well!

My T600D has the same problem (door won't open, but functions well!). I had to open the player box to get my disc out. Now I want to contact techSupport or return the item since it is only 5 months old.

My open/close button does not work. I can not open my dvd player and also had to take the top off the dvd player to get my dvd out.

I bought mine 3 months ago and I have the same problem.I don't know what to do

  • Anonymous Nov 19, 2007

Same problem. Mine is 9 mo old and I will never buy this brand again. This is the second dvd player that went bad in less then 2 years. You get what you pay for. If you want a dvd player for your cottage and will only use it 2x a year then this is the way to go, otherwise spend an extra 20 bucks and have a dvd player that will last more then 1year.

The second time I used the T600D DVD, it would not eject. Removed back screws to remove disk. Took to Target who will not do anything since it was a gift without a receipt. The unit was manufactured in February 2007. I would like a replacement asap.

    Thank you,

T600D DOES NOT EJECT DISK. When the eject button is pressed, the Door is unlocked but the disk does not slide out.
The player seems to work fine otherwise.
    Will remove cover if necessary.

I have the same problem---player T600D functions well but door won't open--and it is only 8 months old

  • slk2008 Dec 12, 2007

I am also experiencing the same problem with my T600D-the door won't open, either by manually pushing the button on the machine or by remote. It shows on the TV screen that the door it open, but it is stuck. I don't have a DVD in it now but can not use it if I can't get the door open. I have only had it about 6-8 months and bought it at Target. Any ideas?

Same. Door won't open. Used 3 times. Target's 90 day policy is up and they are not interested in helping. Am currently writing a letter to Starlite Consumer Electronics.

Have the same problem with a T-600D, door will not open and Target who apparantly is the distribtor for Trutech wants to know from noithing, it seems evident Trutec has an issue but get this, the 800 number in the instruction book is "non-working". Guess that says it all. Have not seen anything regarding this issue being addressed or cause and remedy.

I took mine apart to get a disc out. It still works, but now my remote doesn't.

I purchased a TRU TECH TT 320 DVD PLAYER at Target, used it 3 times; now the door will not open, manually or with a remote; and the DVD Player will not play at all.  Target does not want to get involved if you are beyond your 90 day warranty.
I spoke  with Laura Pio, 760-633-1406, SR Executive Team Leader-Merchandising in the Encinitas store and it was a waste of time.  Another manager in the Encinitas store had told me they were getting a lot of complaints about the quality of Tru Tech, more than other companies, but Laura Pio said she was not aware of this.  Maybe if we all call her, she will become aware and do something.
What I would like is for TruTech to exchange this for another that works or for a more expensive DVD Player that works, or let me talk with a Tech that can explain why this product is defective.
This was my first DVD Player.  Thanks Tru Tech.  I will no longer be shopping at Target or purchasing Tru Tech products.  I just hope my TT TV keeps working.

WHY MY PORTABLE DVD WON'T PLAY

It won't play for one of two reasons:
1. There is something inside the DVD player, which keeps it from playing.
2. The DVD player's battery has run out of juice and can no longer play, meaning the player needs to be replaced.

DVD player will not open

1. This problem is with the drive mechanization. If belt driven the small belt that pulls the gear has become stretched and need replacment.
2. If this is direct drive then the gear has lost sync or is worn and need service.
3. To remove disc you can unscrew the 4 to 6 screws to open the cabinet ( this will void any warranties) but you can rotate the gear in clockwise movement to retrieve the disk.
4.If there is a belt there you can carefully remove the belt and apply a coating of "Rejuvenate" to it and it will last for about 3 months. before the belt will not be useful. Note: that the application is careful applied and allowed to dry thoroughly before installing the belt again.
5. Most DVD players are disposable lasting only for 10000 to 50000 plays.

the problem is internal and the only way is to bring it back to the store you just bought it. because it is still under warranty, since it is just newly bought.

Dvd player will not open

look at the bottom of the unit and see if it has a slot to put in a pin and manually open the drive, most of them have some way to do this look for a slot or pin hole to push the release, sometimes they do this because someone pushes the drawer closed instead of using the button or remote, you will have to open it to reset it if that is the case you might have to easily force it open.
